Recently my picture has been jacked, especially when playing mlb2k8 and gta cut scenes, the screen will have a green layer and red will blink and smear the picture but the tv is fine when the xbox is off its extremely annoying.
Its your GPU. i would suggest not turning it on into you get it fix/repair. otherwise you might burn up the 360 processor. doing so will make it so you have to replace the GPU which alot repair shops cant do. you prolly have cracked thermal paste and to much heat is touching the processor. it is not a corrupt file. its someone doing sloppy jobs at M.S
while thermal paste is added you might want to go ahead and have a x clap done. better safe then sorry. you dont want it to break down and not work 6 months later.

Hey there, Sounds like your issue is a basic mechanical one. These drives use plastic gear wheels and clips. They wear over time and especially prone to these types of problems if you push the tray rather than use the button. If you are adventurous and handy, you could try opening it to get to the problem. It may be as simple as a track offline.
I'm sorry to say pedro but your computer friends first instinct was correct this is a faulty videocard and or drivers.
how long ago did you purchase your PS3?
You said you did 2 resets but Have you reset the PS3 to Factory settings? If you did factory reset it did you test the same problem before uploading your backups onto the PS3?
If not do a system backup
This is how to do a Factory Reset on PS3
1. Power Off the PS3 in back and power back on 2. Hold power button on the front till you hear 3 beeps. 3. Then go through the setup and then run a Full Format from System -> Format. You may need to have your AV cables if your using HDMI (in case its not detected after reset)
4. Test the same problem with the same game 5. If still doing problem restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset
6. Contact sony cause you need a repair.
This is what used to happen to me on my ps3 slim 160 GB when I put the disc in the screen goes black and int he top left corner I have a flashing disc, i updated the system to FW 4.00 and now the game works fine, i was previously running FW 3.73.
no red lights, no previous error msgs, and video output on the box has just died. playing halo yesterday and mid-game the colours went askew (like a green overlay) with horizontal banding, backing out to the dash solved nothing so after a reboot there was simply no video. troubleshooted the tv and cables and its definately the box. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=625804
