### How do you put in radicals in the casio fx-300ms

Use the square root key. For roots of higher index, use the xRoot key; the shifted function of the Y^x or [^] with exponent 1/3 for cube root, 1/4 for 4th root, or 1/n for the n-th root.

### I'm doing radicals I need to type an exponent into my calculator that goes before the square root not after. how do i do that (5) as an exponent square root of 32.....the answer is 2 but how do i type it...

Use the xth-root function to compute any root. It's the fifth entry on the MATH menu, which you can get by pressing the MATH key. The fourth entry on the same menu gives you the third root without needing the 3 to be specified.

For example, to compute the 5th root of 32, press 5 MATH 5 3 2 ENTER.

### How do I find the square root of a number? and how do I enter scientific equations?

For square roots, use the square root key just to the left of the divide key. For example, 4 square-root = will give you 2.

The calculator doesn't have any way to store equations, scientific or otherwise. If you mean scientific notation, use the EE key just above the 7 key to enter exponents. For example, to enter 1.23x10^6, press 1 . 2 3 EE 6. For negative exponents, make sure to use the +- key to the right of the decimal point instead of the - key.

### Want to know how to calculate a number raised to a power

Use the general power key marked with X to the y ( look for the image of a key on same line as Power in the screen capture)
You enter a number then press the power key and finally the exponent. If exponent is complicated (fraction, negative or other) enclose the exponent in parentheses.

You aslo have dedicated keys for certain powers and roots (square, square rooot, cube, cubic root)

### How to use the exponent key on a casio fx 300ES calculator ?

The key to use for the square, and the cube are well marked and they share the same physical key (X to 2) or [SHIFT][X to 2]. Similarly the keys to use for the square root and the cube root share the same physical location (the square root key, to the right of the square key).

For any other exponent, including fractions and negative exponents you use the universal power key labeled [X to ] ( X with a raised square).
1. You enter the base (the number to be raised to a power).
2. You press the [X to ] power key.
3. You close the parenthesis (the right one).
4. You press [=]
Sometimes the result may not be displayed as a decimal number, but as a radical (if you take a root). To make sure it is displayed as a decimal number, in step 4 above, press [SHIFT][=]

### How do you tak the square root of 64 or the 4 root of any other #

Hi shiny_diamon
Here is a picture of the powers and root functions of your calculator.
1.To calculate the cubic root of a number you use the key combination shown on line 5
Ex: Cubic root of 27
27 [2nd] [3 root x] [EXE]; Should get 3
2. You can use the general root key on line 7 [2nd][x Root y]
Ex: Cubic root of 125
125 [2nd][ x Root y] 3 [EXE] Should get 5
(-125) [2nd][x Root y] 3 [EXE]; Should get -5

3. You can also yse the general power key on line 6: [Y to x], but the degree of the root is entered as a fraction 1/3
Ex: cubic root of -125.
(-125) [Y to x]( 1/3) [EXE]; You should get -5

4. The [Y to x[ key is the one you use to obtain all other roots fourth, fift, tenth, n-th.
Ex: Fourth root of 256
256 [Y to x] (1/4) [EXE]: You should get 4

5. To extract the squqre root of a number you can use the key on the 3rd line [root x] or the general power key on line 6 with exponent 1/2
Exemple square root of 256
256 [Root x] [EXE] should give you 16
256 [Y to x] (1/2) [EXE] should give you 16 also

Hope that helps.

If you want to extract roots other that square and cubic, you use the same key, but the exponent will be 1/4 , 1/5, 1/6.
Hope it helps.

### How to find cube root.

Hello,
What we call roots: square, cube ,fourth roots, etc. can be shown in algebra to be equiavlent to powers with fractionary exponents where numerator is 1 and denomonator an integer.
square root of a = a to the power 1/2
cube root of a = a to the power 1/3
n-th root of a = a raised to the power 1/n, n integer different from 0.

How to use calculator to calculate cube root?
If you do not have a specific (shortcut) key for it you use the key to raise to an arbitrary power [^ ], sometimes shown as [x^y]. The exponent will be 1/3. Do not replace 1/3 by its decimal approximate.

Cube root of 27 is entered as 27 [^ ] (1/3)

Hope it helps.
