Be careful, the stem must be inserted at least 3" or to the safety line, or it will snap off. You have to have a metric allen wrench. Like I say, and I cannot stress it more, do not raise beyond the safety line on stem, buy a longer stem, if you want it higher than that. If, the bike is too small, buy a bike that fits you from a shop who specializes in sizing.

Derailleur. Everything on a bike that bolts on can be replaced. Take it to a bicycle shop for assessment. Special tools are involved.

How do I raise the handle bars on my mongoose xr 200 21 speed bike

Your handle bar stem has a metric screw in the the neck of the bicycle. But, a word of caution, do not raise your handle bars more than the safety mark on the stem, it has to be inserted that much or it and it can snap in two and result in serious injury. Take it to a bike shop and they can either show you how or advise you on replacing the stem with a longer one. This is a very important part on your bike, do not take chances.

How do you raise the handle bars on a mongoose scorch bike?

there should be an allen wrench bolt on top of the handle bar shaft. loosen that but not to much because you dont want the tightening nut to fall off. now put the front tire between your legs and try to wiggle the handle bars back and forth while pulling up if it does not move try loosening it a little more and take off the first bolt on the shaft and that should work. i hope this helped you

How can I raise handlebars on a 26 in. Mountain bike (mongoose 21 speed0

You need an Allen wrench (a.k.a. hex key) to fit the bolt head right in the middle of the handle bars. Loosen this bolt just 2 or 3 turns then tap the head with a soft hammer or block of wood and a hammer. Then pull the handle bar stem up (and all of the way out so you can see how the wedge-shaped nut at the bottom of the stem works). Look for a mark on the stem telling you how high you can safely raise the bars (you have to leave enough of the stem inside the tube so that it will be strong.) Put it back in and tighten it up. If you found this helpful, please vote. Good luck

Loose handlebars on a Mongoose XR-75 mountain bike. I tried to tighten them but they still are loose. Help!

Check the splines on the handle bar. Just loosen the "clamp" and slide the bar over to one side enough so you can tell if the are stripped or not. If they are then replace the bar, if not then reassemble and try to put a littlle extra torque on the bolt.

I have noticed with the 2 of these bikes that I have that the bars do not like to stay tight for long, they tend to work thier way loose about every other time we use them. I just keep tightening them untill the splines strip, then pick up a new bar.

Contact Mongoose for parts info at: www.Mongoose.com under "about" click ask mongoose.

Good luck.
