It sounds like your hard drive has some problems with it. Try replacing your hard drive and reinstall your OS.

When you boot do you get the Pre-Boot screen with options of BIOS, Boot Menu....etc.? Yes or NO, respond to this post. If that fails, reboot while repeatedly tapping F-8

I want to reinstall my dell inspiron e6510 back to when i first got it..please lmk asap

Hi,

This should help.

Use Dell PC Restore by Symantec only as the last method to restore your operating system. PC Restore restores your hard drive to the operating state it was in when you purchased the computer. Any programs or files added since you received your computer-including data files-are permanently deleted from the hard drive. Data files include documents, spreadsheets, e-mail messages, digital photos, music files, and so on. If possible, back up all data before using PC Restore.
To use PC Restore:
  1. Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

  1. Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press .

If you do not press in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the computer again.
notice.gif NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

  1. On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

  2. On the next screen, click Confirm.

The restore process takes approximately 6-10 minutes to complete.

  1. When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

note.gif NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.
  1. When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the computer was turned on.

  1. Click Next.

The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.
After the computer restarts, click OK.

Thanks,

Oliver

Dell D600 Battery Causes Screen to go Black

Laptop batteries normally just last for a few years, depending on usage. If your battery is almost done, it may report a 'full' status, but just have the capacity to feed your laptop for a few minutes.

You may check this by disconnecting current while your laptop is started up. If low battery capacity is the cause, the same will happen within a few minutes.

Laptops normally go in standby on low battery, to avoid data loss.

Dell latitude c640 laptop

This could be caused by a number of thing, bad battery, bad power supply, bad memory chip, bad processor, and a bad component on the motherboard. Start by checking the output of the power supply with an ohm meter. The output rating will be on the power supply or you can go by the input in the machine. Then try starting without the battery. Then remove the memory and try with one chip then the other. At this point, if the problem persists, you will need to take it for a professional diagnosis. They will be able to test the processor and motherboard to find the exact problem component, and tell you whether it's replaceable.

Booting problem

Try putting the computer into safe mode by holding down on the F8 button and selecting safe mode during the boot process. Once you get to the safe mode screen and windows appears, restart the computer.

If that doesn't fix the problem you will have to restore Windows.
