I'm wondering if this could be related to a Windows problem, or driver problem. A few Fuji owners have had this problem, as the following blog shows:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/650528-io-error/
Not sure there is a fix, just a work-around.
You might contact Fuji to see if they have a driver or software update, and here's their website:
http://www.fujifilm.com/support/
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

How are you connecting the camera? Is it a cable that came with the camera? Can you put the media card in a multi-reader and DL the pics?

Passing photos from the camera to the pc open this messagge: I/O error occurred. Process aborted

Assumed you get that message when the casmera is connected to the computer.
You can check if the memory card is ok, by putting it in the card reader of the pc.

Otherwise, check if you get the same message when connected to another PC.

When downloading photosfrom camera to pc via usb lead message says failed to open device also when using memory card reader 1/0 error occured process aborted is displayed can you help with either enquiry...

Try using another card. If photos download properly from it the problem is with the original card. In that case try cleaning the metal contacts lon the card they may have some dirt or corrosion? Hope this helps.

Error message when I try to download photos to my laptop

Did you install the drivers from the CD which came with your camera???. The drivers must be installed, before you can connect your camera to your laptop. If not follow these steps in sequence

1- Use the CD to install the drivers. If you do not have the CD, please go to fuji web site and download it. Here is the link

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/01/index.html

2- After installing the drivers, connect your camera to your laptop, turn it on and follow the screen to install the drivers.

3- After it is finished (ready) , click on start, then computer. If the drivers was installed correctely, you would see an icon with all or part of fuji Finepix s9000. Double click on that icon.

4- You would see one or more folders, which contain all of the pictures and/or videos stored in your camera.

Now you could download, copy, delete etc all of your stored pictures.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

I/o error occurred. Process aborted pops up

The Windows error "I/O Device Error" means there is an error in the computer's ability to read data when you try to install a program or to copy data from your device such as a CD Rom, external hard drive or digital camera. To resolve this issue, try connecting the camera to a different USB port. Also try to uninstall and reinstall the driver. If both suggestions fail, we would recommend trying it on a different computer to see if the camera is defective. If it works on another computer with no problems, the issue may be with the computer. We would recommend a Windows update or contacting your computer manufacture for further assistance. A simple solution that many other users try is a card reader.
