Question about Eureka Altima Upright Vacuum Model 2996AVS Vacuum
The burning smell is most likely from the drive belt that has seized up for some reason.First and least expensive step to take would be to remove the brush on the bottom of the unit. Clean it thoroughly and remove all debris, especially on the two end pieces. The brush rotates around the two end pieces, so they must be able to be turned by hand. Spray a little WD40 on them if you need to free them up a bit, turn by hand so they are free to move and then replace. If the belt looks work or stretched, now would be a good time to replace it.
