Question about Pioneer SD-641HD5 64" Rear Projection Television
I have fixed a lot of these sets. The set should have a master on/off or power and a standby light on front that is red--when you turn on a green light should appear.
If standby light is on and green comes on and goes off--you may have the classic problem these sets have.
These were among the first sets made that used lead free solder and the power supply board seems to be most to have soldering problems that develop over time.
If you unplug set and remove rear cover--follow power cord to power board--It should be a large board as seen from rear to the right--
There are fuses on the board but they rarely fail. If the fuses are all good someone needs to remove that board and look for and solder most of the connections.
I have seen ones with clearly bad solder connections and some looked fine. I have found if you do or do not see bad connections tor resolder the whole board---with it out takes under a hour to do.
Let me know if you have more information or need help.
If this helped or told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.
