Question about Logitech QuickCam 961464-0403 Webcam

Bad Static on the Audio

I just bought an STX Plus Webcam. I have tried all the audio adjustments
and I still have static on the audio. Static when I'm using Windows Messenger.
If I record a WMV file using the camera, sound is okay for about 3 seconds
then the static is so bad you can not hear the voice.

Audio is fine for several seconds and then horrible static.  Logitech Quickcam.

This was no normal static, but some sort of software problem-- other Internet research leads me to believe that there was a problem with my sound card and this web-cam.    However, their latest hot-fix seems to have solved the problem.  -- J

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud

Voice static

Go to the audio control panel and check you microphone settings. Make sure that the 10 db isn't checked under the advanced properties. If it isn't on adjust the volume. You should be able to calibrate in the panel while talking through it.

Microphone issue

Maybe there is more than one setting for the microphone. Possibly the camera/mic software has settings that it is using when in use, or maybe it has an "auto" setting. Try adjusting or disabling this.
