SOURCE: microwave doesn't cook
If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. If you hear an unusual buzzing noise, the magnetron (the component that actually generates the microwaves) or other electronic module may be broken. If you hear nothing, you might have a defective transistor on the main printed circuit board. This is not easily fixed; contact a service technician. You can try the "find a microwave repair..." link from the product page. Good luck!

Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP pad) is the primary cause of door switch failure, but it may also be a broken switch mount. I have a text file called "doorsw.txt" which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems, and a file called "safety.txt" which is of vital importance. It is at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your base model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 or at http://www3.sears.com

The problem is that the magnatron is not getting power. Chance is that if could be a bolwn fuse inside the unit. If the fuse don't fix it then that leaves the charging diode, capacitor or the magnatron, or high voltage xformer of which without technical epertize I would not recomend attempting to replace. good luck

Hi, you have a faulty magnetron, capacitor, or diode that's keeping the unit from heating anything. They have internal fuses, but its good or nothing wood work. You can have these parts checked out at a appliance repair store, but wit parts and labor it may cost more then a new one just to be truthful with you. If you are handy, you can get into the electrical section and may get luck and see which part is faulty just by looking at them, for any blackish, scorching on any circuit boards, a capacitor is a small round or oval shaped part that holds a charge and these sometimes will leak, swell up and crack causing them to fail. If you want, you can try this. If you do have a board, this is where any diodes would be on the face of it, remove it enough to look on the back side for scorching and you can take it and purchase a new one and be back on line. These are just some options you may want to try. It may be something like a capacitor that is very easy to change out. This may save you some $$$$.If this is an older model, you may want to look for another, but if its a newer, I would spend the time to do the things I have said. I wish you the best on this, and want you to save your $$$$ on this. Please keep me posted, and would you please rate me on any help I may have been to you? Thank you!
