That is not true at all. Ive been re ordering batteries off the Blue Parrot website and in the past 6 months they dont seem to have any in stock. You dont need a new headset, just find a battery on eBay or Amazon.

Hi, once your blueparrot B250-XT bluetooth is no more holding charge, then it's time to replace it by getting another one because the battery is somehow built inside the headset that it cannot be removed or changed.. Once the life span of the battery is completely drained, that is the end of the headset.

If the green light comes on while you are charging the unit it means the battery is getting power. If the unit won't function or show any indicators while it is not on the charger there may be an issue with one of the control circuits. I recommend calling VXi, the makers of Blueparrott Headsets at 800-742-8588 for technical support. All VXi, Blueparrott Headsets have a one year warranty.

If your headset is showing a green light when it is plugged into the charger it means the battery is receiving power. If you remove the unit from the charger and it will not turn on or function properly there is likely an issue with one of the control circuits. Without seeing the unit we would not be able to tell you which circuit is experiencing some sort of issue but the unit does need service. The VXi, Blueparrott B250-XT has a one year repair warranty from date of purchase. Please call our After Market Services Department at 800-742-8588 x2011 to obtain a return authorization number (or RA#). After you have received your RA# you may send us your headset to us via any means you choose (prepaid) with your RA# marked on the package, please include a copy of your invoice or receipt. If you do not have a copy of your proof of purchase we use the production date in the serial number as the warranty default start date. The After Market Services group will either replace your unit with like new product or repair your headset as necessary. In either case, our goal is to turn the unit around for outbound shipping in two business days (please note this goal can be affected by volume at the time your unit arrives).
