this morning the printer worked normally. i also notice that the computer hangs up a lot during gmail but i would have to post a new "problem" for that...makes me wonder about this computer versus my other one, which seems to be doing better...

Something is corrupting the driver. Since you experience other unusual problems elswhere in your pc makes me very suspicious of the health of your OS - it's probably very infected. Reinstall Windows and all the drivers and if the problem returns then the hard disk is dying - replace it and reinstall one more time.

Try to disconnect and reconnect its power cord or use another one if available, then try using a UPS if available, or if you are already with a UPS or AVR, try to connect it directly to the power outlet. It can be related to the power source, or you may need to get the printer serviced.

if this happens only when connected to a specific computer, if the printer uses USB connection, connect it to another USB port of the computer, Try to also go to the device manager, double-click the driver for the printer, then if it has a power management tab, click it and uncheck the option to allow windows to disable the device to save power. It would still help to check out the previous suggestions to rule out any issues with the printer itself.

thank you very much. i will try the solution(s). an it guy who works for me has also given me a solution to try. I will try to integrate the solutions and try the most logical thing first. it seems that it would not be related to the power supply because the other computer was connected to the same power supply. It does not power on and off per se, but it seems to be getting a recurrent signal to start the warmup process over and over. When I unplugged the USB cable from the printer and reconnected it, the cycling stopped immedicately. i did not check to see if the printer printed after that because i ididn't have time. also, the problem seems to have something to do with which driver I am using. there are now three versions of the same printer installed on the computer. two of the versions are called samsung scx4725fn pcl6, and one is called samsung [model number] PS. none of the "installed printers" seems to work better than another, though I thought that I had solved the problem after installing the PS driver from samsung. nevertheless, that did not seem to have been the problem.

I not do now know whether this is a hardware or software problem. i am going to see what my it guysaid and perhaps try that. i'll be back. thank you very much for the information. i wanted to try fixya to see if it was good and cost effective. i do think it's fascinating in terms of the "crowdsourcing" feature and fixed cost per answerproblem. i may use it again for other issues. for certain things, it may be more cost effective than paying someone on an hourly basis for this kind of help.

it is possible that there are some issues with your computer and it may also need to be checked. try to check for possible updates to the drivers and chipsets of the system including BIOS and review the fixes to check if they are applicable to you. if for some reason you have a Dell computer, it usually will have a diagnostics CD or a utility that you can run to check for possible hardware errors.

feel free to let us know how the suggestions goes and if ever you'll need further help, I'll do my best to help you get to the bottom of the issue. a rating if applicable on how the solutions/suggestions goes would be appreciated. Thanks

This morning the printer worked normally when I used it on the first try. Thus the problem seems to be on a variable basis. I think you may be right about the computer. THis is a refurbished hp pavilion p6404y. I will have to start trying to figure out what the problem could be. I will copy this stuff and give it to my IT person to look at. We'll have to do a checkup of the computer I think.

I'll make sure I give a rating. Your advice was helpful in terms of looking at the big picture. For that I am grateful. Thank you very much for your help.

  • Rodie Sep 16, 2010

based on the details, it does sound to have something to do with your computer. first thing you can try is to test the printer using the other USB ports. this will help isolate if it is somehow specific to port being used. if the same result with any of the port, you can proceed to try the other suggestions and the computer may really need to be diagnosed/checked further or even serviced. However, starting with available updates for the system drivers including chipset and BIOS would be a good starting point.

  • aaronliu_aar Sep 16, 2010

okay, this sounds good. I dn't have time to do all that stuff, but I will ask my IT person to help me do it. I think I am okay now...thank you again. I will give you excellent feedback for sure! :)

  • aaronliu_aar Sep 16, 2010

i cannot figure out how to leave you as rating or communicate. well, i give you an excellent rating! five stars. you can let me know how to do it if you want to. i hope to do business again!

  • Rodie Sep 17, 2010

thank you for the rating. when a solution is posted, you'll see a thumbs up or down option which you can use. the highest would be 4 thumbs up to indicate that a solution is very helpful.

would be glad to be of an assistance again in the future.

This problem is caused by a hard fault present in the printer, this can be a failed electronic component or a program error, disconnect power to the printer for 5 minutes, if it reset u are home free, if not call a service tech to run diagnostics, you can also email Samsung support and ask for help.

I just changed heating elements in my edenpure usa 1000 and now it keeps tripping my power strip ?

Check to make sure that the elements are weird in the right place.
See if there is any loose screws or metal on metal.
The elements might be bad
If wired wrong it may not be making a proper circuit.
Check the pcb boards to see if it is touching metal on the bottom side of board.
If you put a screw in the wrong spot it may be grounding something out.
Check all wires for bare spots

Jeep grand cherokee constant grinding noise, and but in reverse with full right lock it feels like it is grabbing the o/s rear wheel and a heavy deep grind comes from it! thanks in advance

As weird as it may sound, i'd check the power steering fluid. An empty power steering fluid tank will make the power steering grind and make weird noises, and having it at full lock will worsen the noise and have no fluid to build pressure it might starting jumping the steering around a bit. If the power steering is OK then you will need to take the rear drums apart to check for any broken retainer springs preventing the pads from returning into place and it will keep braking and grinding. Could also just be some rust or a broken off metal part in the drum also, but either way you will need to take the drums off and inspect the springs, clips and pads to ensure everything is OK and nothing stays jammed into braking position. Also be sure to verify the rear brake cylinders in the drums, as it may also be them that don't return to the initial position and keep the brakes on.
