Headset What headset can I purchase that is compatible with the prostar 816?

I do not believe other phones will work properly go to ebay and buy the same phones if you need more they are cheap

It's not called a Prostar in the UK but is known as the Samsung DCS 816. The follow clip will show you how to add to the system speed dial directory. But you can find 60+ handy clips at www.AbbeyTelecom.com

Hi the samsung prostar has a comfort tone when on hold, which is basically a beep which just lets callers know that their call hasn't been dropped, in order to get music you have to purchase an external MP3 player which then needs a telecoms engineers to program to the system, Sorry if this is not very helpful to you, however I have posted you a samsung prostar 816 training video, there are more of these on Youtube covering lots af topics which might be of help to you in the future. To change the hold recall timer on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming)
The code for hold recall is #52
enter in your hold recall time in sec. and in a 3 digit format. i.e. 30 seconds = 030 a minute and a half is 090 and so on.
press # when finished
For the headset opperation, with the hanset on hook dial #09 then dial 1 to turn on the headset and turn off the handset (0 to turn on the headset and turn off the headset) then dial # to save your selection.

Unfortunately, The prostar system was not compatible with CLID. The next best thing you can do is to have the telephone line(s) that have CLID extended to where the phone is located and plug in your box(es) directly into the telco line.

No. I think the Prostar was mid 1990's manufacture. It was replaced with the 50si and DCS family. IIRC the 816 phone is not compatible or ugradable to any of the newer product.

On the Prostar 816 the MOH is connected to the BK-OR/OR-BK wires of the Female connector on the Base Champ Connector. You will need to connect the Headset jack connector to this location, that means cutting off the headset/ear piece from the wire and terminating it to the BK-OR pair of wires. Then MMC 309 and 408 are used to program the music on hold source to the stations and trunks.

The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.
