I have a 8 yr old model 16879 that stops apparently during the drain cycle. At this point the lights on the panel flash in what appears to be a coded sequence. Pushing the cancel button seems to try to start the motor for draining but immediately shuts off. Do I have a controller problem or something in the motor/pump area? David

I will clean the drain hoses and food trap but I am still concerned that the electronic controller could be at fault. Do you have the codes for the panel light flashing sequences when the dishwasher stops. I see two sequences. The first is 3 quick flashes and the second is several long flashes followed by 2 or 3 quick flashes. Also, after a long period (several hours) the machine will start normally and run to a certain point. When we open the dishwasher, it has about 2 inches of relatively clean water.

I cleaned the drain areas in the machine by removing and inspecting the filter components and also verified that the outlet to the disposal was clear. On the test run after the cleaning exercise the drain cycle worked fine but the machine is still stopped midway through the Time Save wash cycle. In this case, the machine appeared to complete at least the first wash and drain cycle but about 15 minutes into the wash cycle, the controller was attempting to start the next action but it was as though the motor would not run correctly. There is a brief sound (1 -2 seconds) like the next cycle is starting but does not continue. The machine made several attempts before the Time Save and Wash lights began flashing. These are the same symptoms reported in my first comment several days ago. I also ask again if the flashing sequence of the lights are a diagnostic tool?

Hi,
It could be either...I would tear into the drain pump first and verify that nothing is stopping it from turning, then go for the controller if that seems to be okay...

I would first suspect a blockage. Either the drain, drain screen or the pump itself may be blocked to jammed.

Looks like your timer is going to need to be replaced.

Does the dishwasher drain out properly?

Since the drain pump will pump the water out using the "cancel/drain" button, if it did not work then your problem is likely to be in the drain hose system or the garbage disposal downstream from the drain pump. Check for kinks in clogs in the drain hose. Grease can build up in the portion of the drain hose just before it attaches to the garbage disposal.

If the hose is fine then i think the drain pump can be the problem.

Clean out any food or debris that is trapped within the pump assembly.

Indesit dishwasher Dfg15b1 will stop during a cycle and the salt light flashes, the drying light stays on, and the start/pause button flashes.

I would check the water inlet flow rate is fast enough as these will time out if they can't get enough water fast enough.

Why would a whirlpool duet sport model number WFW8300SW05 starts fine stops during cycle. No error codes door locked red light on water in machine.

you have a plugged or partial plugged drain pump for sure. maybe there is a 20 stuck in it this time! easy to find just follow the drain hose back and you will find your pump.
also could be the cycle your using has a bad area in timing cct. check a different cycle like the delicate cycle and that will confirm pump or cycle

Only 1 yr old so I assume its a simple fault like partial blockage at pump. Remove filter bottom right of machine check and clean if needed . remember to use an old towel fist as this will contain around half pint of water assuming its drained 1stly , Always unplug machine from Electrics before any repairs, Good luck.

Hoover hpe 236. water not draining, stops mid cycle, lights flash

Have you checked the pump filter, and or that the pump is actually working. if it spins o/k with no water in, then I would suspect a draining problem.
If filter clean and pump o/k, then it could be a control module fault. if this were the case, then it would probably be wiser to purchase a new washer.
Hope this is of some help to you.
