Your only option is to reset the unit. You can get directions on setting the new settings from the Linksys site. I write the info on a tag and put it on the router.

Be sure to set the wireless security. Use your 10 digit phone number, so you do not have to look up the access code every time a guest comes over.

Hallo! my computer do not accept the router. I set up many times but nothing is working with Wlan. in otherside, the internet ist working via broadband - Linksys(INTERNET) - Linksys(port 1) - Computer. It...

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

My router is hooked up and working with dsl. but my wireless adapter is not. wrt54g

To check the wireless settings, use a computer that can get online or is hardwired connected to the router.

Follow the steps below:

1. In the address bar of your Internet browser, type 192.168.1.1

2. It will prompt you for the username and password. By default, leave the username blank and the password is admin.

3. Go to the Wireless tab.

4. Click the Wireless Security tab.

a. If the mode is WEP, take note of the Passphrase and Key (you need to copy only the default transmit key). If WEP encryption is 64 bits, you have to copy the 10 digits security key.

NOTE: If you are using a Linksys wireless adapter on the additional computer, you may use the passphrase for the security key.

b. If the mode is WPA, copy the Personal key or the Enterprise Key.

5. On the wireless adapter's settings, you should be able to detect your SSID and then just type the passphrase or security key.

Is windows 7 compatible with WRT54G router?

Yes, but you can not use your passphrase to attach to WEP. You will need to use one of the generated keys. It's the number onder your passphrase in the router configuration. It'll look like "accde45fff296" or something like that.

If you are connecting to your own router and not someone elses by mistake, omeone has setup a security key on your router. It doesn't have one by default. Ask whomever installed the router what it is. Hope this helps!
