This is a clear evidence of a broken lid switch. Power to the drive motor is routed through the lid switch during the drain/spin cycle. The machine, therefore, cannot drain and spin when the lid switch is not working. The drain pump doesn't work because it is directly coupled to the rear spline of the motor. Replace the lid switch to address the problem.

Release the console from the top of the cabinet depending on the model of your machine then pull forward and up on the console and lay it back on the hinges.

The problem was posted under the a category of Kenmore top load washer and the model number of the machine was not specified. Also the problem is described as if the machine is a top loader. We troubleshoot and give advice by model number and based on how the problem is described and on experience. That is the sole reason why a troubleshooting and repair guide for a top load machine, instead of a front loader, is provided, my apologies for that.

Thanks for the information provided yet no further description for the problem so let met troubleshoot again based on what is described here. The agitates and the dial goes through normal cycles, then stops when it comes to drain, the problem says. My understanding of the problem now is that, the timer stops and eventually the machine
when it comes to drain. This is a clear manifestation of a faulty timer. A dead spot at the point where the drain functions start must be causing the timer to stop. Fiddle with the timer knob or the dial as you call it when the timer stops. Fiddling with it may clean off the dirt that is causing the dead spot. Replace the timer (part number 131802100) if the problem persists.

You have to remove the top panel and the console to access and replace the timer. The top panel is secured to the rear of the machine. Release the panel then lift off the cabinet. Pull the timer knob off and remove the console from the cabinet.

Roper washing machine does not fill for rinse cycle. Goes directly to rinse agitate without water.

Without Model number I am only guessing but I suspect you have a blocked sensing tube that travels from the Level selector switch to the side of the tub somewhere. It is possible for this plastic tube to become partially clogged and not allow trapped air to vent when tub is drained of water. Usually this problem manifests itself as an overflow of the tub. Check the full length of this clear hose and see if the end nearest the tub looks like it may have debris or dirty detergent clogging it.

This hose is pushed onto a nipple mounted to a reservoir on the side of the tub. Push a thin copper wire 4-5 inches into the those after removing from nipple and also down into the nipple an inch or two before reinstalling the hose to the nipple. You MIGHT even blow into the hose while you have it off and you SHOULD hear a clicking sound coming from the level selector switch body.

Good Luck. Come back with Model number under lid if that doesn't help.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Goes thru agitate cycle then stops - no drain of water, no spin. Control dial does not advance but manual advance also not result in drain or spin. Position of dial on agitate area results in agitation.

If the drain pump is not operating correctly, the cycle will not continue. Also, sometimes the pump has something jammed in it, and may just need to be unclogged.

it may be waiting for a faulty heater to kick in. try it on a cold water wash, no heat and see if it continues the full wash. if it does not then it may have a faulty timer.
