Does your power supply look like this one?http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-ml... and check the samll cap under the heatsink, especially the 10, 22. and 47uf one?http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352...

  • pnv_electric Sep 15, 2010

No, my is yellow. I am not sure about the 5v output everything else seem to checked out ok. I also think that the 5v come from the mainboard rather than the PSU.

The standby 5vdc is from the power supply module, http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/s/j/sj909ke0gf321xah.jpg

If you can send me good clear pictures of the board from both side, then I can investigate futher, budmrtn@aol.com

I got all the voltages now, the primary side to the transformer is cracked caused lose connection, but I got all the voltages now, but still no standby light. It seem that the main board is bad on this, but I will investigate further to see if I can trace the 5vdc to the led standby light. I have rough schematic, would need to know where this 5vdc goes to from the PSU to the first input of this standby led.

Yes the picture from shopjimmy.com is the board I have. Again after desolder all joints on the primary side to the transformer I now got 5vdc, 24vdc but still no led light. Need help tracing this with schematic if anyone have it.

  • pnv_electric Sep 16, 2010

Just to clearified the soldering of the transformer. I resolder all joints and now receiving all voltages. Not desoldering.

Check the VCC on pin 1 of the push button PCB assembly connector to see if you have 5vdc or 3.3vdc there.

I have the service manual but it is very poor as far as the informations are concerned since the power supply module and the main boards are made by other OEM. PM me if you want me to send you what I have. budmrtn@aol.com

Polaroid FLM1514 LCD power will not turn on

The power supply board 2950c is driven by a Fairchild CM0765 power converter which is a MOSFET combined with PWM controller. This board is used in several different LCD TV's. It should output 15V at 2.5A. You can find a troubleshooting giude here http://www.fairchildsemi.com/an/AN/AN-4141.pdf
If the fuse is not blown, and the 3 output caps are not swollen then usually the capacitor C4 (Vcc Capacitor) is faulty. It is usually a 22uF 35V Electrolytic and you wont easily see if it is faulty - you need a cap meter to test it, or just replace it with a 47uF 50V and it should work.

Polaroid FLM 323b LCD sound but no picture. Changed out c32, c33, and c34 caps but it did not fix the problem. None of the other capacitors look bulged on the board. Any ideas where to go next?

Well, you need to find out if it is putting out the 24vdc for the backlights inverter board, if it does, then check to see if the 24vdc is at the inverter board, check the surface mounted fuses on the inverter board, check to see if it has BL_ON signal. One thing about bad caps, they can look normal and correct value but they can have high ESR which is bad for switching power supply circuits.

Standby power no picture

The problem in general (as this question is) would be to inspect the power supply. The power supply board, in the TV will have bad capacitors. You will need an ESR meter to locate and replace bad capacitors. You may look for bulged or skinned caps, if you do not have an ESR meter. If you have an external power supply ( a black electrical box transformer, from ac wall outlet, with another cord that enters the TV) the problem is inside of this. Once again, you will need to replace caps here, thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

My TC-26LX85 clicked a few times when I plugged it back in now there's no stanby light or power at all. All the caps look good no solder breaks no bulges on anything

First, the service manual that you will need for troubleshooting: http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=PANASONIC&megnev2=TC-26LX85&kategoria=&kat2=all
If the standby light is not on it may mean that the 5vdc tsandby power supply section is dead or the 5vdc standby is OK but the main board is not working (LED's are driven by the main board).
You need to find out if the 5vdc standby power supply is working or not first. Bad caps can look normal but can have high ESR, but not likely to be bad caps in PANASONIC because PANASONIC makes good quality caps that I use for repair.

The standby power supply section is at the bottom left of the picture.

I have a Polaroid MDL# TLX-02311B television set. During the initial power up sequence the POLAROID logo comes up on the screen and then shuts itself off less than 2 seconds later. Any ideas?

Power supply will be the first place to inspect, it can be that it is sensing shorted circuits so it goes into shutdown mode.

My lcd tv is about 2 years old my tv wont switch on, standby light wont come on. i looked around and it says heat back of the tv with a hair dryer! this works for bout 2 hours than the tv will go of again....

Look for bad caps with domed top, you may have bad caps with high ESR when it is cold, when it is heated up the ESR will go down so the power supply will start working again, I use hair dryer and heat source and cold spray to troubleshoot the problem all the time. Right now he standby 5vdc power supply is dying.

My Polaroid Flat screen has no picture, but still has sound

No picture can be caused by dead T-CON board, main board, 24vdc power supply not supplying power to the backlights inverter board, bad backlights inverter board. So inspect for bad caps fisrt and also try the instruction below.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Switches on then goes into standby

It may have dying power supply problem due to bad caps or shorted out backlight inverter circuits.
Look for bad caps with leaking/bulging top first sine it is easy to do without test equipment (bad caps can look OK but can have high ESR- Equivalent Series Resistance).
90% of monitor failures are due to bad caps as hsown in my albums here.

You need to open it up and checking the voltages in the power supply sections, you should have 5v (for logic circuits), 12v for sound, 24v for backlight inverter circuits. Look for bad caps with bulging tops in power supply also.
