Hey there! This is Becki Barned with Dish Network customer service. That is a very frustrating event!!!! To stop that, in your menus, you can change a setting to stop that. Here are the steps: 1. Menu 8-5. This will bring you to record plus. Here, you want to disable the ACTIVATION. That way, you can record to any tv of your preference!!!

How do I clear old deleted recordings from recorder as I have run out of room to record new programms

hi Jan

I've moved your question from Blue Ray / DVD to DVRs.

The particulars will depend on the make/model of your recorder (I'm assuming we're not talking about video tapes here) For a TiVo, go to the My Shows menu, using the remote, select a show (you may have to enter a folder first), and then use the 'Delete' button on the remote. You can usually also open an options menu for a given show that will have an option to delete it. Often, you can delete whole folders at once, if, say, you really don't need that 'Every Star Trek Episode Ever Marathon' anymore. You may also have a 'suggested shows' folder where the recorder has recorded stuff based on preference guesses. that's a good place to start since you likely care less about shows you didn't try to record in the first place.

Beyond that, the details will run wiht what sort of recorder you have.

Good Luck!

Do I need to clear all recordings I have set to remove message 'Can't schedule recording. There is already a timer at the same time on this channel? I have checked library and timers and nor ecording is...

Hi Margret -

(1) You must have available space on the recorder. If it is full, you will need to delete enough programs to provide the room needed for the new recording.
(2) You also need to be subscribing to an entertainment program package that includes the channel that the show appears on.
(3) Depending on the service (Tivo, Directv, Dish, CableTV, etc.) there may be other requirements. The quickest response to get this resolved for you will be contacting the service provider (Tivo, Directv, Dish, CableTV, etc.)

Good luck!

Can i watch tv on one tv while another person watch a recorded show at the same time?

Hey russ fenton,

On the 625 receiver; the Dual mode allows you to record in one room and watch live TV in the other or watch live in one room and a recording in the other.

We have two DVRs - one for my wife and one for me. We would like to record her shows on her TV and my shows on my tV. Instead, we never know which DVR the show is going to be taped on. Somewhere, I heard...

You can get single DVR receivers that operate 1 TV. It allows you to record and still watch a different channel while the recording is occurring. You could have 2 separate receivers, one at each TV location but you would incur an additional $10 per month charge for the extra receiver. You can call 1-800-333-3474 if you'd like more information.

When I try to record back to back programs on different channels the timers won't work. It tells me there is a conflict with the timers and tells me to change priority or whatever. I can set a manual...

Hi this is Luke.
DVR Priority settings are used to prioritize timers should there be a conflict between timers. The top of the list is the highest priority and takes precedence. The bottom of the list is the lowest priority. A lower priority timer will not fire if there is a higher priority timer at the same time. Timers that conflict with each other will display Attention 532. The message may display when switching from Single User Mode to Dual User Mode because the receiver recalculates timers for conflicts.
  1. Press DVR three times on the remote (twice for a 942 receiver). The skip timer icon (red x) designates a conflicting timer.
  2. Select Timers.
  3. Select Set Priority.
  4. Select the timer to change.
  5. Use the Up and Down arrow buttons on the remote or the Move Up and Move Down options on the screen to move the timer priority one at a time. Use the Move to Top and Move to Last options on the screen to make the timer top or last priority.
  6. Select Done.

Selecting Automatically resolve by priority will allow the receiver to set the priority level of the timer. The last timer created will have the lowest priority level and will not be recorded if both tuners are being used for other higher priority level timers.

Selecting Change the priority of this timer will allow the customer to set the priority level of the timer. With the new event highlighted in the Daily Schedule screen (the event will display with the skip icon), press Select. Select Restore and then Yes. The new timer will now have a higher priority level than the conflicting timers.

You may also want to resolve the conflict by:
  1. Press Menu on the remote.
  2. Select Daily Schedule.
  3. Select Timers.
  4. Arrow over and select the timer that needs to be edited.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. Make the desired changes then select done.
Let me know if this help.

Hello! Daniel Busa with Dish Network here! Most likely your reciever is using our record plus feature. This sets the record default to always being on tv1 or always being on tv2. To fix this hit menu 8-5 go to disable hit select, go to done hit select delete the timer and set it up again.

Shows canceled?

Make sure u have signal on both tuners on the DVR ( check it in your set-up screen). both tuners should have the same siganl strength. Directv's DVRs, if installed correctly, give u the option of recording one channel and watch another, or recording 2 seperate channels( 2 tuners). If you are recording 2 seperate shows and u change the channel one of your recordings will cancel .
