My printer is copying but printing out blank sheets- i tried changing out the ink but still not working?

I'm assuming you mean all pages come out blank, whether using the copy or print function. Sounds like the printhead is seriously clogged, but we may be able to blast it out, working from the machine's operating panel.

If you've already run it through a few normal cleaning cycles, skip down to the paragraph marked Purging.

For a normal cleaning cycle, touch the Ink button, near the left end of the operation panel. Use the up or down arrows to select "Cleaning" sand press the Menu/Set button. It will give you the choice of cleaning Black, Color, or All. Use the up/down arrows to pick All, then press Menu/Set. Sit back and wait a while.

When it's done, use the same Ink button and select Test Print, then Print Quality. Press the Color Start button to print a pattern of four blocks of dots, one block of each ink color. If you're getting ink out, but not perfect blocks without gaps, you may want to repeat the cleaning & test process.

If it's totally blank or a hopelessly small improvement, try purging the ink lines and head:

Purging: Brother has built utilities into the machine to allow servicers to aggressively purge the ink lines,at the expense of considerably more ink consumption than a standard cleaning cycle. First we need to get it into the "Maintenance Mode":

Ignoring any beeps meant to distract you from accidentally doing this, touch Menu, Black Start, then the up-arrow button four times , that is: Menu, Black Start, ^, ^, ^, ^. The display should read MAINTENANCE and all lights should flash in unison. Don't experiment in Maintenance Mode. Some functions will render your fax inoperable, except in certain foreign countries' phone systems. Every function is entered by touching just two digits. There is no Set or Start required, so as soon as you touch that second digit you're committed, with a few exceptions. One of those exceptions is the Purge function, which accepts modifying inputs. Touch 7, 6 to enter Purge mode. [Don't go looking for a comma key. I put that in just to separate the different key presses.] The display will read Cleaning All. If you had a problem with only one color, you would choose that color now by cycling though the list with the up or down arrow keys. In your case, stick with All. Touch the number 3 to select Power Purge, then touch the Black Start key. Sit back and hope.

When it's finished, the display will return to reading MAINTENANCE. Touch 0,9 to print that same test page you printed using the Ink button before. If it's good, you can exit Maintenance Mode by touching 9,9 or by unplugging the power. Either way, it will go through a complete startup routine before going to Ready state.

If the print has improved but isn't perfect yet, you can repeat the purge & test. If it still looks hopeless, it probably is. Brother has a one-year warranty, at least in the US. You can find a local service center on www.brother.com. If you are barely past the warranty period, call the customer service number and whine. They might issue a Work Order to the local servicer, effectively extending your warranty for this one problem. If you're using non-Brother inks, you're probably sunk.

If you have to pay for a new printhead and labor, forget it. Parts, ink, and time add up to more than a new machine.

When I run anything through the rollers I get a black line down my copy/scan. How do I fix this? I have cleaned the rollers and it didn't fix my problem.


only thing I know is when my copier/printer was doing this it was from refilled ink cartridges. if you are using refilled try replacing with new ones.

Do you have ink in the cartridges? Just because the computer says there is ink does not mean there really is ink.

Try making a copy and see if it copies. That will tell you if you have ink. Just go to the canon all in one and place something on it to copy and press copy from the controls panel on the printer.

Sheet is blank goes through the motions of printing but sheet is blank


check ink , if low use maintenance , of changing ink to remove and fit.
If not the printing head can be faulty. check on the printing properties and increase the contrast.
Lastly reinstall and connect printer back , If not result the head can be defective.

When printing or copying, I just get blank sheets


You may need to clean the printer heads. First try going to your printers properties and you should have an option via troubleshooting to clean, if this does not help, look inside the printer depending on the model, near the cartridge, you'll find where the ink comes out. Take a damp qtip and wipe them good. They are most likely clogged. I cleaned mine with alcohol but I'm also a risk taker :). Hope this helps!

I have been trying to get my 5300 kodsk printer to


Try to print a picture in from the computer if it works then the printhead needs replacement (Call Kodak support).

If while printing picture still a black sheet is thrown out. Delete the Kodak printer icon from control panel > Printer and faxes . Restart the computer and re-connect the USB.

If these does'nt work try to COPY a pictue using only the printer, still u get a blank page try to install the ink cartridges and the printhead. Is still blank prints. The printer will be replaced

I put new ink in my mp390 and it is not printing anything it says the printer is online and when I hit print all that comes out is a blank sheet


Hi, i suspect the ink you bought is not compatible with the printer, try print test page and see what happens.if it is still blank,then, change the ink cartridge.

Big Black not printing


Sounds to me your print head is plugged up. This is not usual though because the majority of people use black ink much more. So, in your printer utility, do a deep cleaning. If that does not work, there is a thing called a purge unit in it. This is a usual way of draining waste ink to a pad that soaks it up. if the hose, or other parts are clogged, it backs the ink up and causes the print head to clog. If this is the start of it, do not waste your ink cleaning, and try not to let it sit too long. Contact canon, and let them kno what you think it is.
