PTO on tis machine is located inside of trasmission, switch on dash.Solenoid/coil is located on rear of trans at the top. When energized the coil magnetically moves a valve inside of trans an allows high pressure fluid to engage clutch. In 15 years with Deere I only had too replace 2 solenoids and no clutches.

Can't get you a diagram but i can tell you most electical problems on these tractors can be solved by replaceing the key switch/modual or cleaning corrosion from fuse holders.

You should price a new wiring harness, around $80 so there is not much reason to spend a lot of time trying to find shorts or open wiring.

had a similar problem. The engine mount bolt that grounded the PTO black ground wire was loose- causing the pto to work erratically. To see this bolt (13mm i think) you will have to lie on your back and look under the machine. It is above the front steering arm of the right tire. If the wire is dangling you will need a new bolt. Thanks for the previous posts ;)
