I assume "someone" is opening your door using a handheld remote, right? If that is the case, CLEAR all remotes from the main console (there should be a sticker with directions on how to do it on the main console). Re-add all the remotes onto the console - this should take care of it. If you have a keypad outside - change the pin on that too.

The frequency of the garage door opener is the same as the one down the street. Is there a way to change frequency on the Lift-Master Professtional Line Garage Door opener?

This appears to be your problem.Your door sometimes is opening unexpectedly and inadvertently when a seen or unseen neighbor uses his or herremote door opener; or a neighbor wonders why his/her own door always seems to open shortly after you drive by; and you wonder if her and your remotes should not be transmitting each at its own unique frequency level. Or in the worst case, someone, possibly a prankster, possibly someone more nefarious, is driving through neighborhoods punching a remote to see if any garages respond (and if any indoor occupants respond).

Its transmission radio frequency is not what sets one garage door remote apart from any other. Instead, each door remote controller transmits in rf adigital codeinto the air near your house, and any door opener power head set to the same code recognizes the code and is commanded to energize its power head motor to raise or lower the attached door in reverse of its last most previous transport direction. The chance, probabilistically speaking, of any two near-neighboring houses' garage doors (or even a random, travelling remote) being set at the exact same code among the large number of available alternative codes is quite remote, but it can sometimes happen.

The solution is for the house owner--that is you-to change the reception code in your door opener power head unit by repositioning small selector contact switches in a code pad situated on the power head, typically behind a plate or cover of some kind--or you might have to remove the power head cover. Once found, it is fairly easy to do by setting the numbered or lettered switches to form a multi-digit code, much like a digital padlock combination except in binary or some base other than decimal. Next, record the new code, and change the code by the same means and method on all associated remote control instruments. It is not a bad idea to change garage door remote access code from time to time simply as a matter of routine garage door and door opener maintenance. Check for code switch location and setting procedure for you power head in user manual or on line. That should be the end of the problem and also discourage anyone casing your neighborhood for potential unlawful entry vulnerability.

Garage doors opens on its own, after being close for hours

Someone in your neighborhood may have the same garage door opener that you have and sharing the same code. Change your garage door opener code or buy a Genie Code Scrambler.

Many of these devices use a code that changes each time the door is opened and closed. This feature is used to keep potential bad people from learning your operational code and entering your garage. You may have a communication problem whereby the Garage Opener needs to be reset. You may try to change the settings. If you have dip switches on the main unit in the garage, change the dip switches to another setting and write down the numbers in the order that you have the set them, Then go to the remotes, hand held and hardware placed on the outside door, and change the settings on these devices to MATCH up with the inside unit. This is a good time to REPLACE the batteries also.

Sounds like someone else in your neighborhood has the same garage door opener and it's on the same radio frequency as yours. And yours may be opening theirs. Your frequency can be changed, but you'll have consult your Owners Manual on how to do it or contact Sears.

If someone in your family carries the remote garage opener in the pocket or purse, it can be accidentally triggered. I say this, because my mother-in-law used to do it all the time.

Garage door keeps opening automatically after code change

Changing the code on your keypad wouldn't cause this problem. It is most likely a bad wall control or the wiring going to it. You can eliminate both possibilities by removing the wire from terminal #1 on the rear of the motor unit. I would do that for a night or two just to see. You can then go further to eliminate the wiring or the wall control. If you replace the wire on terminal #1 and then remove the wires from the back of the wall control you will see if it is the wiring. The staples used during installation sometimes cuts through the insulation and cause this problem. The wall control just goes bad.

i think what is happening is the code in your open has a list of different codes it cycles through to keep someone from "capturing" it and opening the door when you gone.Try having someone help you and program the three units at the same time.

You must hold that red button in for 6 seconds to erase the memory. Just remember you will have to program your hand remotes plus the wireless keypad.

Neighbor opening our garage door

Report this problem to the Manufactuer stating your model number of controller and remotes too and they may help solve your problem faster than getting offside with your neighbour, apart from that the remotes and motor controller may need replacing to give you more security and control over your own secure enviroment,

I have fitted many security devices,alarm panels,cameras,sensors,keypads,etc,
and never had to repair this type of fault as the supplier or manufactuer has always assisted with their products thru warantee or advice,

I have 20 years of experience in the industy in NZ,Thanks MISTERDJ
