Loss of power when printing

  1. Is the printer off?
Press the I on the power switch to turn the printer on.
  2. Is the power cord loose or disconnected?Turn the printer off and connect the power cord properly. Turn the printer on again.
  3. Is the printer connected to a correctly rated outlet/socket?Connect the printer to an AC power outlet/socket that you know works. Do not connect any other equipment to the outlet/socket. Do not connect the printer to an auxiliary power outlet on the back of a computer.
  4. Is the printer defective?Turn the printer off immediately, disconnect the power cord from the outlet/socket, and contact your dealer or Brother Customer Service.

My printer won't turn on. I have tried turning everything off and back on but it still won't turn on.

There is only one way to find out if it is an issue with the printer or the Power cord or Power Adapter.

Normally every HP printer has 2 parts. One cord connects the Printer to an Adapter. the Adapter cord then connects to the Wall outlet.

Now that you have connected the printer to working outlet, Check after 10-15 mins if the Adapter ( black box ) is warm or cold. If the Adapter is warm and the green LED light on adapter is glowing, then it could an issue with the Cord or the Printer.

Try with another Adapter or power cord to diagnose.

For Other brand printers, there should be a power adapter ( black box ) and it should be warm when connected to wall outlet, if it is not warm then it is defective power adapter that you need to replaced. Else it is a problem with printer mechanism.

I have a HP Deskjet D1560, and with the power cord plugged into a working outlet (I checked), the printer won't turn on. Is it just old? Is something wrong with the power cord or the printer?

Dell photo ai0 924 what type of cord do I use to

You would need a standard USB printer cable to connect your printer to your computer. It is readily available at any radio shack near you. Refer to the following image to see how the ports at the cable would look like:

Need cord to connect printer to comuter for Lexmark Z11 printer

You likely need a USB cable with an 'A' connection on one end and a 'B' connection on the other end. They can be found at stores like Best Buy, Office Max, Staples etc. If the computer you are trying to connect the printer to doesn't have any USB ports, then you will have to add a USB card in one of your computer's expansion slots to allow the printer to work.
