I have a Fuji Finepix S8000fd, and i inserted the memory card just now after uploading photos to the computer, and it said 'read error' and wont show any pictures stored on the card on the camera, please...

You will lose whatever is still on the card but you could try to 'Format' the card, either by right clicking on it in the 'My Computer' page on your PC, or by using the menus on you camera.

I need help uploading the pics from my camera?

Consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

It's possible for images to contain a virus these days but if "you" are shooting them, it's unlikely the camera. It "might" be the software you are using to get the images onto your PC. If you are using Vista, try the built in downloader.

Vivitar dvr 390H cuts out when looding and power won't switch off

The Vivitar DVR 390H is notorious for overheating. When the Vivitar has been on for awhile and/or it is being used heavily(uploading pics/vids to your computer, playing music, viewing videos, etc) it will overheat. The bad part is that it overheats fairly easily.

I have one of these and I do like it, but I mostly use it for its 20 GB harddrive as a backup harddrive. My suggestion is to try and make sure that the camera is not near something such as the fan on your computer, under a lamp, or near a wall when trying to upload pics/vids to your computer. Also when downloading/uploading things to and from this camera, do not try to move ALOT of files at the same time. Also, try to keep it turned off as much as possible when you are not using it. I suggest setting the "power off" to 10 minutes just to make sure.

I hope this helps!

Images not uploaded

Try uploading your pictures into Scanner/Camera wizard on your computer. It will save them into a my pictures folder under my documents. Also make sure that they're not saved on your internal memory while you have a memory card installed, otherwise when you transfer it's only going to transfer the ones off the memory card and not the internal memory.
