Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Garmin GPSMAP 172C - cannot find satellites (WAAS)?

WAAS is a seperate service from GPS. It provides GPS corrections so if you can not get WAAS there is no big problems. you unit just wont be as accurate as normal. WAAS only is for North America and EGNOS for Europe. You may want to turn WAAS off for now. I suggest trying a update for the unit. You will need a memory card and Garmin USB programmer. Then just go to garmins site to get the latest update. If you need a USB programmer feel free to Contact GPSCity.ca or GPSCity.com. They are the leading experts in Garmin GPS.

How due i get my gps to load

A GPS may not act normally if it has too few satellite signals available.
You may have to have a clear view of the sky for acquisition of several satellites.

My gps172c fails to receive any sats...same problem last year, boat laid up over winter and in spring when set switched on no sats picked up .Garmin sent me software update and problem solved. Unfortunately...

Similar problem with a Garmin finding current position taking very long time every spring after boat being laid up in winter.

See page 4 and 5 to speed up the process.

When Garmin does a power-up the current version is revealed during the boot. This will ID the update!

The at home(current position) delay maybe due to satellite re-position during the winter and has been the only problem. Once acquired have little or no problem rest of season.

See page 6 on link manual where you can observe the satellite acquisition. During the initial acquisition process it seems to start over many times and eventually locks them in one at a time!

Hope this helps?

GPSmap 296 doesn't show any satellite signal

Check that the date shown on the unit is correct. If not, choose autolocate and allow about 10 minutes for the unit to find satellites. If this works, then the internal lithium ion battery is defective.

Just opened up a new magellan roadmate 1412 and can't get a satelite signal.

satellite acquisition takes several minutes with good line of sight to the sky, assuming the unit dose see at least 1 satellite in the sky this would mean theirs issues with the internal antenna or the receiver is malfunctioning, when you said opened up the new unit i assume you disconnected the small connectors, maybe one is not fully conencted or the wire became disconnected during reasembly. theirs alsoa chance the unit has to be reset.

Can't find any satellites

If you don't use it very often it can take time to find its location. Have you tried using the 'set initial location' option? Once it knows roughly where it is and what time it is it can then work out which satellites it should be looking for instead of searching for any/all of them. The manual does say that it will take time if it has no initial clue as to where on the planet it is, and if you're on the move while it's trying to work that out then it may take even longer. Obviously, if it has a poor view of the sky, or if most of the satellites are behind you and you have a tin roofed aircraft then that will probably not help either.
How do you know the antenna is OK?
Do you have the remote antenna to try?

My Garmin Nuvi was working fine, but then lost satellite reception during use. Since then it has been unable to locate any satellites and therefore find a GPS signal. Any ideas?

Here is an email received directly from Garmin: I have tried this myself on several units and it worked. I can't gurantee it will work for all cases. In some cases the antenna may be defective. Also, click on the "wrench" symbol, then the "gear" symbol and then "about". Look at the number after the text "GPS S/W:" It should be a number like 2.9 or 3. If its 0.0, then the antenna is not communicating with the main board.

"Thank you for contacting Garmin International, I am happy
to help you with this.

Sometimes the almanac data that your nüvi stores for satellite acquisition becomes corrupted. This causes acquisition to become slow. To correct this we need to perform a master reset. This procedure will erase all user data.

With your nüvi powered off, press and hold the lower left corner of the screen. Next, turn the power on. Continue to hold the screen until it asks if you really want to enter maintenance mode. Next, choose clear user data. The screen will flicker a bit and then start up like it did when it was first turned on. Follow the directions to set time and location. You will have to reacquire satellites by turning on your nüvi with the antenna up outside in full view of the sky. This one time
acquisition may take up to 30 minutes. "

No GPS fix

Had same problem on trip down the pacific west coast. Best solution is to replace your GPS antenna to the 175 ( It is a problem on the 120)and upgrade the software. If this is not feasible, shutting the unit down for about 10 to 15 mins. sometimes dumps the GPS data overload. and allows FIX re-acquisition.
