Question about Audio Players & Recorders
My mom has an old ( about 15 yrs ) cd player that won't play cd's or open the turnstile. When you press cd, it says DEF. Does that mean default ? According to her manual, it means pause. We tried unplugging the unit, but that didn't help. The radio still works, and we think she might have just hit a wrong button or something. The manual says FW36, if that helps any.
My FW14 MX 3701 CD Mini Hi Fi System will not play The CD stored in it. The screen says DEF. Thanks.

I had the same problem today and could not get the doors to open. I unhooked all the wires and brought the unit upstairs and was going to dismantle it since I had 3 cd's in it. I decided to plug and unplug it and also tried the open & close button. After 3 or 4 times the unit started working again. I took my cd's out and put 4 more in and they work great. Try this, what do you have to lose.

Now I have the same problem. Does anyone have an answer besides trial and error?

I had the same problem. my cd part of my mini hi fi [has tape player and radio] froze up in the middle of changing my cd selection. wouldn't open/close/ play. i started to play the radio every evening as i 'pleasure' read [spy novels my favorite]. this went on for almost a month. a couple of nights ago, the cd player 'woke up'. i'm once again listening to my large collection of linda ronstadt. it still wants to say NO DISK when I hit 'play', but i hit pause, then play, while the drawer is closing. once closed i hit the play button. it still will play only one cd and stops at the end and won't progress to the next cd. no different than pre channel changer. i have to get up to change cd, but what the heck?
