My dvd player starts making a clicking noise after I insert the dvd. It eventually just stops trying. Has it quit for good? I've tried several dvd's that it usually plays with no problem.

SOURCE: Player unable to load discs when inserted

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic350059.html

I think I found these adjustments! There are two tiny surface-mount potentiometers (could be capacitors also) sitting in the small circuit on laser assembly.

this is exactly response I would like to hear - an expert opinion!

What I did with help of 1mm-wide screwdriver:

1) There were two surface-mount potentiometers marked with C1 and D. I tried first D. Turned it clock- and counterclockwise by about 45 degrees.
2) After each turn I opened and closed tray to force the player read DVD disc.
3) It did not help, "NO DISC", then I tried the same with C1, and again, no luck.
4) Finally, I came back to D and turned it by about 180 degrees in one direction. IT WORKED!!!

Moreover, seem that now player reads content of the DVD discs faster then before. Probably manufacturer did not really adjust it properly and upon the time something has degraded, so it failed eventually.

try cleaning the lens as if its been sitting it could have a layer dust or dirt film that may need to be taken apart to clean properly. Good luck

SOURCE: Bad disc or insert disc problem

If you are using a copied disc try a real one. But this model of DVD Player is made so cheap. it sound like the laser assembly is bad or the motor that spins the disc is stuck or going out. If you are good at electroninics you could take the lid off load a disc and see if it spins if not give it a spin clockwise and see if it takes off. You probably should replace unit for price of a new one.

Dvd player makes a clicking noise while playing disc

If in the audio circuit of the unit it likely is too expensive to find/repair--unless it is an expensive unit it likely will be cheaper to buy a new player.

Recently released blurays won't play. The player shows "no read". Supposedly the filmware is up to date. Thanks.

I hate to say this to you , but I have the same problem and it started slow and eventually it quit all together. I have heard that the laser head that holds the blu-ray laser and the DVD laser it is one module. For some reason the blu-ray laser will come out of alignment and it will spin and make clicking sounds and will come up stop on the front panel and say no read. This had happened to me 4 times in 2 years and it is just made cheaply I know, because I have taken several apart and the module for the laser is very cheaply made, but I have heard you can download a repair manual and it will make it easier to know what is wrong..

Good luck I have spent hours trying to get the laser head aligned with the 3 screws on it and have not got it to work yet..

Denon dvd player freezes in the same place on certain dvd's also sometimes willnot start to play disc unless re-inserted several times. Model D-M51DVS

sounds like its stoping during layer switch, if the player is old its needs to be cleaned. its best to clean it once every 20hrs or so. if you do not have a disk cleaner you should go buy one first. if the player is new return it and get the best dvd player you can buy for any amount the toshiba xde. this player is phenomenal, the best you will be amazed. no i dont work for toshiba but ever since they started making hd dvd players(i know they stopped)there players have become the best. trust me if you dont think so just return it. no harm done. if you want a blu-ray get ps3 I dont like them either but i have to admit after buying (for movies only)my third blu-ray player it is by far the best one. almost as good as the toshiba on standard dvd playback but not quite. good luck.

My DVD player wont read a disc

There are several things you can do to try and solve your problem: Make sure that the DVDs you try to play are encoded for the right region. Make sure that the transportation lock (usually a plastic screw on the bottom of the unit), is not engaged. Turn off player with disc inserted, unplug temporarily from wall outlet, plug back in and turn back on.
