If the sound is on both channels then it's probably a device that is connected to both channels. I don't think it's the power supply. I rather suspect it's in the power amp section, since it's not affected by turning up the volume. If the amp uses one of those STK devices as a power amp, it could even be that.

Any of the transistors in the right channel power amp section circuit will have the fault. Check it. A very skilled work indeed.

Very loud hummimg and crackling - even when volume turned down.

There are a few variants for this model depending upon the serial number. From your description, there are some capacitors in between the amp stages called coupling caps that are failing. The hum is some DC current being passed through the output stage. The crackling is probably just dirty controls.

NAD 3020a crackle in right channel regardless of volume.

more than likely you have a bad transisitor on that side and the frequincey is distorted there's not much you can do except take it back if it's new or take it apart and check for the bad part but if you do that you had better know what your doing!! it may be just 12 volts but thru an amp it's a nasty shock

Technics su-v560 stereo amp crackling

That is a common symptom of not properly grounding of negative side of the output of power amplifier section.Just resolder all component parts joint in power amp.sectiton and double the solder all negative ground.Also clean the pots of all volume controls and selector with a lighter fluid or desame that fluid so whatever sound or crackling noise eliminated and works normal again.. Hope it may help you;;

Screaming crackling noise when very hot

Crakling sound is a symptom of loose or cold solder in amplifier section where the STK IC or Darlington transistor is located .You better re solder all parts joints there in order the crackling sound is gone.

Hope it may help you;

Warrior amp seems to be crackling

You have a couple of things that might be going on. One the emitter resistor one the channel that is bad needs to be replaced or the bad channel itself need to be repalced. This does take soldering to fix it. You might need to take to a repair shop.

Guitar amp make large crescendo-like noise, loud pop at end.

Same loudness, no speaker? This sounds (no pun intended) like a filter capacitor shorting out. Open it up and VERY CAUTIOUSLY look for what is making the noise. Filter capacitors can eject hot stuff. Very dangerous.

Hi lumberman597

The cool thing about guitar amps is that you can mess with the knobs until you find the sound that you like. There is no particular way to use it, just try to find a tone that suits you. Start with gain controls down and tone knobs at 12o'clock. Turn up the gain(one at a time) to get distortion and more sustain to your sound. Turn the distortion up midrange down and treble up for metal sounds, more bass and midrange for bluesy sounds. just play around with it and you will see what I mean. Here is a guide from Fender on how to setup your guitar. If you are not sure, a good guitar tech can make any old axe feel and sound great with a good setup
unfortunately, Fender do not have an electronic copy of your owners manual to download, but you can buy one for $5 direct from them here It is only a 1 page manual.... so you will get more from just messing with it.

Musicians spend there whole lives tuning and tweaking knobs to get the sound they are looking for. It wont take you long to start doing the same.:)

robotek
