My TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is frozen. I can't clear the screen or enter in another problem. What do I do?

If the TI-84 SE does not function even though you are sure that the
batteries are fresh, you can try manually resetting it by following steps:

1. Remove all of the AAA batteries from the graphing handheld

2. Press and hold the ON key for ten seconds

3. Replace the batteries

4. Turn on the unit

When you reset your graphing handheld, the contrast sometimes
changes. If the screen is faded or blank, adjust the contrast by
pressing 2nd and releasing up-arrow or down-arrow keys.

My ti-89 is frozen, no matter what keys i press.and although i took off 4 batteries, but when i put batteries back, it is still same, menu screen.

First try the reset code which is pressing Left-Right-Shift and On at the same time. If that doesn't work you can try removing the batteries and putting them back in while holding the (-) and ) buttons.
If those don't work, there is a back-up battery located under a panel just above the four normal batteries underneath the battery cover. Removing this in addition to the four normal batteries should reset your calculator entirely.
If none of these work then there may be a short in the circuits of your calculator which could have been caused by leaking batteries. In this case you can try disassembling the calculator (being careful to remember how it goes back together) and cleaning the circuit board with circuit cleaner.

Hello, my name is Lucas Matthews and I have a TI-89 that is frozen. The home screen is frozen and wont change. I have tried taking out the batteries and replacing them. Also, I have tried holding the ON...

There is a backup battery hidden under a cover in the battery compartment. Try removing all the batteries, including that one. Wait a little while, then put them back in. While you're waiting, apparently dust in the usb connector can cause problems. I don't know why, but it can't hurt to clean it out if it's dirty. If that fails, you can plug it into your computer, download the necessary software from the TI website, and reinstall the OS. If all that doesn't work, there might be a hardware problem.

My ti-89 screen is frozen and wont accept input

Remove the batteries and wait a minute or two. Put them back in and turn the calc back on and it should function normally. Check for stuck buttons as well, as sometimes they will cause the calc to appear "frozen".

My TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is completely frozen up.

A possible solution is to reset the calculator. It's worth a try.

Take out the backup battery above the regular batteries behind a little door with a screw. Leave it out for about 8 hours along with the 4 AAA batteries. Put it all back together and see if this works. Not sure but it is worth a try.

I had the same problem. I remove all four batteries and the battery backup that is underneath the little phillips screw in the battery compartment. I immediately replaced it and the other batteries and everything worked. FYI, others have called for keeping the batteries out for 8 hours.
