  • This could be virtually anything.
  • To an overheating problem from to much dust & dirt clogging the heat-sink on the processor causing the processor to heat up. Or...
  • An old hard drive that has had data written & deleted improperly and has become fragmented and become full of bad sectors & cant read & write to/from properly. Or..
  • You may have registry errors &/or a bunch of trojans ,spyware or ...
  • You may have a lot of programs running all at once during start up & are robbing all of your memory needed for the operating system to run properly.
  • You may want to.......
  • Uninstall files & software that are not needed, through the install/uninstall programs from the control panel & program files folder.
  • Clean it out, add more memory, go to the following website. It's full of free software or can point you to some.

My VAIO Computer Freezes When Turned On

A few internal diagnostic tools get run before the OS loads and im thinking that perhaps the Master boot record (the place the computer looks for the OS to load) is damaged, so yes a reinstall may possibly fix that, but perhaps the HDD is getting on (you did mention age) and the platters and the read write head within the hard drive are probably near then end of their life so.
  • Reinstall the Operating System and see if that takes away the issue or
  • If the problems still occurs i recommend buying a brand new hard drive.
Im positive one of these is the reason for the freezing and long boot.

My netbook freezes after about five minutes of loading up. I have to hard crash it and then once it has started up again I don't have any problems. How can I prevent it from freezing in the first place?

It is also important to remove the suspicious applications and programs in the computer to avoid Windows freezing. In this type of infection not only your Windows registry gets corrupted and needs massive repair but also there is virus based penetration in the Windows set up. In this situation it is recommended to conduct a virus scan as well. However, if your Windows freezes up, the best solution is to repair the computer registry.use registry cleaner reg in out

Windows 7 freeze after few minutes... please help vista freeze after few minutes

Could be a hardware related issue. I would check for bulging or leaking capacitors on the Motherboard.

If all capacitors seem to have flat tops (the "X" is not raised or leaking), Then I would try new RAM - Memory Modules as they can cause freezing if defective. Download and install MemTest to see if you have any defective modules

If RAM is OK, then you could have a defective hard Drive. Try testing a different Hard Drive or run SpinRite to test and repair your Drive.

Power present, will not load...

  • If your system boots properly and freezes when the window appears then the "sys" file of the operating system is deleted or got corrupt.
  • if the system freezes before you could see the window screen then your OS is not loading properly.Which could be due to following
  1. check the hard disk type in the BIOS and look for SATA and ATA type. Correct if it is changed.
  2. OS got corrupt.
  3. RAM not functioning.
  4. check the boot order in bios too.
  5. hard disk gone.
hope through this you will be able to figure out your problem.

Thank you

It takes @least 30 minutes to boot

It sounds like your computer is not recognising the hard drive. Go into the bios (keep pressing the delete key as your computer starts up ) and find 'hard drive auto select' and press enter to see if your computer can recognise the hard drive. Even if this works it sounds like your hard drive is on the way out.
1/ Make sure no floppy or CD in drives
2/ Check Hard Drive cable connections, both ends
3/ Go into BIOS and check drive is recognised in there
