SOURCE: I need help!!!

if you have a single speed (on off) clipper, it should only have 2 wires which go on either way. If you have a 2 speed (off low high) clipper there should be 3 wires, and they must go on exactly as they were. you won't blow anything up if you wire it wrong you just wont have 2 speeds . . just keep turning them around till you get it right.

SOURCE: oster 76

There can also be a problem with the switch, which can be gotten to by unscrewing the the 2 screws at the end of the clipper . . .you must then test (with the thing unplugged!!!!!!!!!) to see if the switch wires are good or if the switch is broken by flipping the switch and or the toggle and then checking the wires with an ohm meter (easily available from radio shack or ?? for under 10 bucks or any kid who's into electronics. If the switch is good, when its turned on resistance goes to 0, if bad th switch shoes infinite resistance on or off . . .

If it hums and the motor is turning, but the blades don't move you need to replace the gear and or lever . . see this diagram

SOURCE: I need to replace the 2 speed oster A5 toggle

I have a picture of one, can you tell me where you got the new switch, I need to replace mine.

The center lead goes under the white wire.
The two end leads both go to one of the brass connectors
The black wire goes to the other brass connector.

Note the "Tab" at the top

SOURCE: I don't know how or where to apply grease to my oster classic 76

The cover plate is the part with two screws that has the name and other info on it. If you remove the two screws and the plate, you will see a nylon part that moves the blade back and forth--that is the lever. The other end of the lever, with a hole in it, is connected to a metal part called the link. Both parts are easily removed by simply pulling them upward from the device. The bakelite gear is the part that the link sits on (the larger hole in the link). It too can be simply pulled up off the metal shaft that it rides upon (careful not to lose the washer under it). If you don’t have a tube of oster grease, a good white lithium grease is recommended in light application for the gear and the shafts (lever and gear shafts and armature gear and teeth of bakelite gear). Also, the bakelite gear shaft has a hole down its middle and two small holes that lead to the outside of the shaft. The shaft should be filled with grease so that grease can get through those small holes to lubicate the inside of the bakelite bearing. The small pads on each side of the lever (in the case) are oiled, not greased.
Oster clippers, by the way, are known for getting pretty warm. Oster blade wash will help with that, as well as oiling the blades.
Hope this helps you.

Oster Blade 918-306 Size Texturing Fits Oster Classic 76 Clipper, Power Pro, Power-teq And Star-te: Oster class 76 clippers....had them for a week and...

70ca16d.jpg Hope this helps, this is a tongue guide, you hopefully recognise it on your blade. If they are not paralell, then adjust them with pliers, both need to be perfectly vertical. When you put it on the clippers push the latch in as you close the hinge.
If it still wobbles then the next fe wthings need checking
1. The hinge screws on the clipper are tight, located either side of the hinge on the clipper.
2. The drive lever may be worn, thats the maroon peice of plastic sticking up at the top of the clippers, it moves from side to side when clippers are running.
3. If all seems fine up to now, your clipper should be fixed under warranty as it will involve changing parts covered by the warranty.

if your 76 clipper is a older model with a gray switch you install to black wire wrong. Now if this 76 is a newer model you have the tang position wrong. your best bet Contact mannyssharpening@yahoo.com they can help you with step by step instruction.

The metal blade fell off my O classic 76 shaver, how can i put it back on? it is the metal changing part

The part that holds the blades on came loose on my Classic 76 clipper. It turns out that the two holes for the inserts are too big. I fixed the problem by removing the inserts from the clipper body (easy since that is the problem), cleaned the inserts and holes in the clipper body and super glued the inserts back into the holes. Be careful not to use too much glue! It only takes a little.
