Hi there We have a Canon Powershot A570IS digital camera, about a month old. Since changing the batteries once, the camera "low battery" warning light blinks every time the camera is switched on, and then it just cuts out with a "change the batteries" message. The new batteries are fine. They have been checked with a voltmeter and are giving spec of 1.5 V each. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Andrew James, Wantage, Oxfordshire, UK

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on properly. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

I had the same problem with my a570is. Here's the solution. Go into menu settings, then over to tools, select reset all at the bottom of options list. You may have to re-enter the date and time. This solved the low battery problem for me. I hope this helps.

If i charged 24 hour s display shows low battery...

Hi there,

Well it means you need to change the battery in your camera, how old is your camera battery?
It seems that camera's battery do not hold the charge, most of because two resins - 1. the battery's are dead (very old). or 2. the charger  not charge the battery's.
Post comments for further help or information.........

Good Luck!!

My Canon A570is will not turn on

The problem that you describe may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside that camera that is preventing full battery power from flowing to the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sand paper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and reinstall them in the camera. This cleaning solves the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

I have a new a year old canon a570is, not working,

If you have extended warranty coverage send it back. There are no user serviceable parts in a digital camera. Canon has been known in the past to cover some of their repairs if they turn out to be common. They also will usually give the option to customers to buy a refurbished camera of similar value in exchange for the broken camera at price that would be below the cost of actually repairing their camera.

Digital cameras are very complex and in many ways very fragile. I don't usually recommend extended warrant coverageexcept for digital camera's, if you can get it for the right price and are buying from a store you trust, its a good idea. You have to do your own math to see if this works for you.

Canon A570IS lens frozen half way-no power

I have a a570 IS that the lense locked out on. fixing it was going to be the same price as buying new, so I took mine apart and after two tries, i fixed it. I would be willing to take a look at it for a heck of a lot cheaper than Canon can if your willing.

Camera says new batteries are dead

I found out how to fix it. (STEP 1.) Take out all of the batteries. (STEP 2.) Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. (STEP 3.) Put the batteries back in and you should be all set.

Canon A460 problem

I have a Canon A460 and the only red light I know of is the auto-focus light. If it's a low battery you'll see the indicator on the screen, not a light.
