Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hello, I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1501. A two days ago I reinstalled Windows Vista, because I've had some problems wih my internet connection and some other. So I installed it and everything is ok, just only one thing - my computer started shutting down unexpectedly. It shuts down after 5 minutes or few hours. And when it shuts down, I can't turn it on. I have to wait a few minutes for it. During the diagnostics test, it showed the message: "Error Code 0146 Msg: Error Code 2000 - 0146 Msg Unit 0: DST Log contains previous error(s)". Please, tell me, how can I fix it? Is it the "death" of my computer?

Hi!

It is not yet the end for your machine. The error codes refers to a faulty hard drive. You'll need a new hard drive for replacement and that will fix the problem.

Should you have any other questions just leave a message.

All the best!

Installed a rangeplus adapter on dell 1000 inspiron xp sp3 home

See if you can go into safe mode by hitting the F8 key right after the dell splash screen and right before the XP splash screen comes up. If you can get into safe mode try to uninstall the rangeplus adapter and try reinstalling again after rebooting the system normally.

Dell Inspiron 1526 laptop won't boot up

The 2000-0147 error is normal as you had no disk in the optical drive to be read during the test. Boot to the Vista DVD and select the repair my computer option (you may have to run the repair process several times depending on the issues with the drive) See if that helps. If no go, then a reinstall of Vista is likely

Since your computer must be a preinstalled computer. I suggest you to reinstall your system. Also, sometimes vista sometimes does not have very stable network. Good luck!

Laptop blue screens when trying to reinstall vista

The problem might be with the bad sectors on a hard drive. You should run Scan Disk on a partition where you were trying to install Windows Vista.

If you have a restore xp/vista cd. Just do a reinstall. If it is a vista, you will need to call microsoft for a new certificate.

Startup repair will not fix problem

thank  for the responce
if you can risk loosing all the data then you  could go ahead with reinstalling the Operating system
if you have a windows xp  installation disc  you should go with that. but after that you might have to find the drivers for your laptop  from the internet
if you need any help  finding those you could always contact me
.

windows vista might have all the drivers for the laptop preinstalled (that is just my guess as i have see this quite a few times) after you install vista but for that you will have to  purchase a windows vista installation disc
thanks......
