Question about Yamaha CDC-565 5-Disc CD Changer

Home cd player will not open

Player won't open. I think I pressed play and stop at the same time and maybe a disc is stuck now. The motor runs when I press open but it doesn't open. What do I do? Thanks!

No labelled hole. And I'm not brave enough to replace the parts. I also saw the label "September 1993" when I opened it! I think it's time for a new one... I did get my CD's back though. Thanks for your help!

Look underneath the unit for an access hole . It may be labeled as such.
Some CD units offer a manual drawer open device under there.

If you're really brave, unplug the unit and remove the case screws. Pop off the case and get your CD back. The you might need a draw belt. See prbline.com or studiosoundelectronics.com

Is having trouble reading or tracking disc.I opened top and while playing disc the tracking mechanism goes out then back in and starts playing where it stopped?

You can clean the lens with a small amount of windex and put a little oil like 3 and 1 oil on the spindle motor shaft and on the sled rails. Good luck !

The CD player will play some purchased CD-s but will not play others. The ones that it will not play do NOT iniate the disc motor but a click is heard and the display reads NO DISC. I have cleaned the...

If you can disassemble the CAP(disc holder) and place it on the disc while it is on the spindle and at the same time push the (hidden)lid switch you will see the lazer"s lens move up and down while trying to focus on the disc. If the lazer see's the disk it will tell the motor to turn. If it dosn't see the disc it will not turn the motor. Some model will kick the disc to spin a little while trying to see the disc. This type of player can be tricked into seeing the disc if you spin the disc a little by hand when the lazer's lens is moving up and down. At that point in time it might see the disc and take over the motor and spin up to normal speed. If the disc is an illeagal copy sold as a original the quality of the disc could be the cause. If the player is very clean (no small hairs stuck to the glue that holds the lens in place) (never clean with a cotton swab, use a shammie swab with rubbing alcohol or isopropal 99%) the problem could also be that the lazer is just not strong enough and the whole lazer-motor assemble should be replaced. Older units could use 1 drop of light motor oil on the motor shaft at the bearing to help start the motor when the system kicks the disc to spin. If the player reads the disc at the time you manually spin the disc maybe a good cleaning and oiling is all that is needed. The disc spins clockwise. if the disk spins counter clockwise replace the whole assemble. Maybe simpler, just give the disc a good clockwise spin and quickly close the door and push play while the disc is still spinning. if it starts, there you go. Don't use caned air on the lazer assemble. it will blow the dirt further into the lazer mechanism under the lens and make matters worse! Good luck!!

Why wont my kenwood cd player work ? It wont play open or do anything it wont let me do anything .

First you do is to unplug the cord of your CD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current,the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the CD see to it if it open If not,just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the CD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the CD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter.When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly.If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn?t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There?s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. Hope it may help you;

My Sony DVP-cx995v stopped playing DVD's

I had the same "Cannot play" problem - happened suddenly, I don't think I was doing anything unruly at the time.

After checking repair (exchange) prices in excess of $250 from Sony, I decided to open the cover to see if I could see anything wrong - normally a futile exercise with electronics except that in the past I have cleared errant disks that have lodged themselves near the drive/player at the rear of the library.

Upon opening and watching the library try to load and play I noticed the drive itself was not spinning the disk once loaded. It would sit for awhile, thinking about it I'm sure, then would unload and load the next dvd, again failing to spin.

I thought okay, maybe try to spin the dvd while in the player to see if it's jammed or otherwise hard to turn. It was not hard to turn and spun freely. In fact, when I put my finger through the hole at the exposed side of the player at the hub to spin the dvd, clockwise, it suddenly started to spin - and play!

I put the whole thing back together to test and all seems to be working fine at this point. Not sure what would cause the motor to stop spinning and remain in that state through poweroff/on cycles etc. but I'm sure this is not the last time I will have trouble of this kind.

I would note that when replacing the library back in its home on the shelf, be careful not to tip the library, especially toward the player area because the disks will spill out of the carousel near the player and become jammed when you power it on and attempt to load. A final tip of the library away from the player area may clear this if you hear the disks rolling out of their slots and you don't want to open the top again (it's a darned heavy box when fully loaded).

Good luck!

Stuck cd discs

I think there are a couple of faults here. The first one is maybe a faulty motor on the eject mechanism. The second one is a faulty laser unit as it is not scanning the disc. Hope this helps.
