The causes for that depend on what type of tv you have:
- if it's an plasma or a CRT (direct or projection) then this is a sign of aging screen, it;s time to start saving for a new one.
- if it's an LCD then the backlighting tubes are malfunctioning because their inverter board (the one that powers them ) is starting to fail - you will need to test and (if fixing is difficult) replace it.
- if it's a DLP or LCD projection then the optical engine is starting to fail this is terminal since a new one costs almost $1000. Time for a new one.

    You have 3 options:

1 - order a replacement directly to the JVC dealer - this will be expensive, it will probably require that you bring the tv to their repair shop, but it's fast and easy.
2 - get an replacement board from a site specialized in tv parts' one like
    http://www.lcdtvparts.co.uk/index.php?ma...
You will need to do a lot of searching to find the exact part for your tv
3 - get your board refurbished professionally by a company like

Yes, this is rare but I have seen it before--not fixable if it is what I think it is----It is what is called a Dome effect---the shadow mask in the picture tube is actually contracting and or expanding depending on temperature---

Directly behind the phosphor coating (the stripes that you see on the screen) is a metal screen--the holes or perforations in it line up with the stripes on the phosphor screen.

Some masks either have a material or a defect causing the dome effect----Not likely to be anything else---a Pin amp problem will not usually act the way you describe but a shadow mask inside the picture tube will act exactly that way.

Was printing photos all was ok then printer stoped printing black

There are 4 inks, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. When the black runs out, you are left with sort of a dark purple or brown color.

awewryte,
I have the same TV and now have the identical problem that you described. Did you ever get it fixed or find out what the problem was? If so, will you please pass the information on?
Thanks.

Acer AL 1912 (black) resolution issue

LCD Monitor Shadow Effect
This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and moitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.
Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.
Thank you.

DARK SHADOW EFFECT UPPER CORNERS OF SCREEN

I would check for dust particles before I attempted any type of repair on the unit.

Dust particles will appear as dark spots that are larger than the size of an individual pixel. It must first be determined if the particle(s) are on the LCD panels or the screen.

Dark vertical shadows

No,you can't. This is very common. I bought a new tv and i noticed right away that it had the problem you are mentioning. I took it back for an exchange and the next tv did not have this problem...until a year later. Now,of course it does have this problem, but it is out of warranty.

I think they make televisions very poorly today.

Do the smudges move around or are they in the same position all the time??If they appear in the same position it sounds like you are having a problem with the invertor panel or the back light circuitry. If you could post photo of fault would be helpfull
