Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

On start-up, I get the screen background, file symbols, a cursor, but the system seems to freeze as it is bringing in the bottom of the screem with "start" on the left and date time, other symbols on the right which sometime appear and somethimes do not. The cursor moves, but as soon as I click on something I get a time symbol and it stays that way forever. Can't get the computer to power off; or do anything else. Have to unplug and somehow it finally shuts down. How do I get it through the start-up do loop?

I think you have either a heat problem, heat damage to the GPU or a power problem.

SOURCE: acer 7720 will not boot

Do you want to try and see if a 'Linux LiveCD' boots? This is the way I test if the computer works. You burn this CD to a disk, and then boot off of it when you're computer starts. I will not modify anything on your computer as long as you go to 'Try Ubuntu with out installing'

Don't worry, I'm not trying to get you to install anything, just see if it boots into the 'live environment' (means you are running it off of the cd) If this works, that means that it is only your windows installation is messed up, and a reinstallation of windows should work fine with a Windows install CD NOT the recovery cd.

Toshiba Satillite cursor is frozen

Seems like the problem is with your background running applications which freeze your mouse and slows your system speed.

- Stop all start up running applications.
- Disable your firewall.
- Stop background running applications.
- Maintain registry by some reliable program like Reginout because registry cannot done manually.
- Properly De-frag your system.
- Remove all junk from your system by cleaning your discs.

Aspire 5475 freezes on startup

It is most certainly a driver, but if you cant access the safe mode also that could be a hardware issue.. Try to troubleshoot with a windows installation cd. Put it in and boot the pc. It will start the windows instalation, you choose repair computer and not install windows. The command prompt will open, try to troubleshoot from there.. Thanks!

Dell D610 nothing but background image

The laptop seems to have a problem with explorer not loading properly (this is the program which loads up the taskbar, icons etc)

Hold down Ctrl, Alt and press the delete key. Dependent on the operating system it will either go to list or load up Task Manager, ether way you need Task Manager.

When Task Manager loads up in the top left corner of the window you will see File, click on that and select New Task (run), click on that and in the box type explorer and click OK, The desktop should now load up.

After that make sure you perform a system restore by clicking on the start menu, accessories, system tools, system restore and take the laptop back to a time before this happened.

Need recovery **** for modle# w4885 it wont boot up , nothing but black screen and cursor flashes

When you go back to boot up, and you get to the Dell screen, can you please start tapping the F8 key, that should bring you to a start up menu, where start in Safe Mode is an option. If you can get there, please go to Start, Run, and type in sfc /scannow, exactly as shown, with a space between the c and the /, then hit Enter. If you have any missing or damaged system files this should repair them.

When this has completed, please go to Start, Run, and type in MSCONFIG, then hit Enter. On the General tab, click on Diagnostic Startup, then reboot the PC. If you can get to the log in screen, then one of your startup programs is causing the problem. If not we'll have to look for something else.

Is there any kind of error message other than getting to the black screen? Is the screen completely blank or is the cursor next to something, a letter, or symbol?
Hope this helps.

Does dskchck & freezes if cancelled goes black & only cursor show

That's a common problem with'll need to restart your computer. Start back up in safe pressing F8 at the boot screen. then restart your computer normally through the start menu. After this I would find a good copy of Windows XP Professional and back up my data, and install XP over vista.

the icons and the bar(task bar) at the bottom of the screen are enabled by the explorer.exe file

it starts automatically but in your case it is not starting

to start it when your computer starts and comes at the desktop, press alt+ctrl+delete button at the same time to bring up the task manager

when you do this a task manager shows up in a window

in task manager window click on file, it will be located on the top left portion on task manager

now click on "new task(run)"

this opens another window, in that window type
without the quotes "" and press enter
this will bring you icons and task bar at the bottom of the screen
