My Dell 922 printer is about 6 or 8 years old, but is not used very often. Is it possible it has reached its breaking as the other expert said? How long should a printer last?

  • d_peoples1 Sep 15, 2010

I guess from your response that my printer is just too old, so I will look into purchasing another one.

If the power is completely missing then the source inside it has failed - normal for such an old printer, they tend to fail after 5 years. The printer is fixable, a good electronics repairman would fix it in less than an hour. But, with the same money you would give him to fix your present printer you could buy a brand new one with better characteristics.
Time for a new one.

Hi! Please try this.... As a first course of action please unplug the printer from power source then press hold the power button for 10secs. while unplugged to reset the system. After the procedure, plug the printer to power source, turn it on and check how it goes. If no luck on this, I believe that the printer will need replacement for it reached it's break point. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Does anyone know how you can get the MAC to print to Dell 922????

As you can see here and here, if you go to the Dell site, the mac os is not supported for the 922 printer. You must use xp or 2000.
To get a printer that supports the mac os, search for 'mac compatible printers', instead of wasting your time fighting to use that one.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Dell 922

Have you unplugged it from the wall for a few minutes? That will flush the memory and give it a clean start. Below is some other info I found. Power supplies, use technology to convert the AC input to lower DC voltages. The typical voltages supplied are: * 3.3 volts * 5 volts * 12 volts Good Luck, Tim
