Question about Kitchen Ranges

Hello: I have a 1998 GE Profile Double Oven. Model #zek756gp1bg The control board flashes F1. The GE repairman said I needed to buy a new double oven. Can you repair the board? How do I remove it from the oven. I do see three screws. 2 on the top and one on the side. Do you use an allen wrench? Thank you Bill 408 832 5678

This does not help. There are no instructions to remove the control panel. Just a worthless diagram.

The F1 usually means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be cancelled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC), touch pad, or both.
So you need to replace the ERC and the bad new is not posible to be fixed. For newer models this is around $200 but since this is older model they don't have the price online and thy need to contact them for avaliability and price.
On the link below you will find the parts diagram so you will see how to remove the ERC but you can find the part number of the ERC so you can ask for a price.

How do I find the part number for replacing control board for GE?

I would not be so sure about that the problem is in the control board. Check switches on the door lock assemblies first.

F1 beeping

hello there:
Please read this carefully and follow the tips and this will help you find out what is exactly the problem ok
How to test many brands of Ranges that are flashing a F1 fault code: You have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad.
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part. * We have seen a few of the newer Maytag ranges with a F1 fault code and the problem was the oven temp sensor, check carefully the wires to and from the oven temp sensor!!

Is it easy to replace the keypanel of the GE

Hello, The simple answer is yes it's not too hard...Normally you have a couple of screw located underneath the control panel. In most mordern ovens today they just consist of 2 components, the EOC (Electronic oven control) and the touch pad which basically cosists of everything you see(the whole panel). If you are replacing the touchpad..remove screws holding old panel in...pull wire harness from control board (dont worry where they go because the will only fit in one place) remove tape from EOC and relocate the control board to the new touchpad panel...reattach wire harness and tape in the new touchpad panel and hook back on oven ..screws in and your good to go. if replacing the control board (EOC) drop touch pad panel from oven and pull wires install new control then reassemble..easy!. One thing i would check though before purchasing the part, check to see it is the touchpad and not the control board...Here is how to do it...shut breaker off...pull out control panel...remove ribbon for key pad from EOC the re install panel..go switch breaker back on. leave for 24 hours..if within the 24 hours the error messages come back it's the EOC that is bad, if the error messages do not come back then you can be sure it's the touchpad. I would check this before buying the part since they are expencive and offten non returnable. Good Luck!! If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Thanks for using Fixya!! Mike

GE Electric Range Model #JBP95A F1 and F7 Error Code

F1 is a common error code indicating a failure of the oven control board (aka ERC or EOC). Often these control boards have been discontinued, "no longer available" or are very expensive. We may be able to help and save you money.

We refurbish oven control boards at www.fixyourboard.com.

GE Wall Oven - error code F1

According to GE, the F1 fault code indicates a problem with the Electronic Range Control (ERC) Board. If the fault cannot be cleared, they recommend replacing the ERC and the touchpad. Has your repair guy tried any of these ideas? Post back with your comments, please.
