Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

Installing vista I have an EMACHINE that came with vista home premium. On the hard drive, it has a partition D: and that had a bunch of stuff in there, when i was using the vista that came with it, it said that that part of the hard drive I could not access. So I just left it. Anyways, I have a copy of vista home premium without all the emachine software on it, when I load it, it installs fine, but then when the computer restarts it says that there is a problem. Now when I reboot with the vista disc in there, it allows me to re-install windows again, and it says that the d:/ partition is up there first, then the c:/ is the second on the list, is there a way of moving that d:/ down to under the windows drive, or do I have to delete the d:/ partition. The reason why I dont want to delete it ideally, is because if there is a problem with this vista disc that I have, I want to reinstall the one that came with windows.

Hello Sir,

You can create a Partition in your hard drive without affecting your OS. Just follow the process I've sent.

1.) Go to Start Menu and Type in search area Create and Format Hard Disk Partition.

2.)Open the Create and Format Hard Disk Partition.

3.)Now you can Select the C: and can Partition it with another new drive.

Thank You

I am having VGN 23G and it came with Vista Home Premium. Right now im using window 7. The os's is working properly. Due to 1GB of RAM using vista is a bit frustrating . All the drivers for VAIO VGN 23G...

All the VAIO Computers will be shipped with the Recovery partition in the Hard Drive. If the Hard Drive is not completely formatted, you can access the Recovery partition by pressing the F10 key for 5 to 10 seconds when the VAIO logo appears.

If you're able to access the Recovery partition, then select Restore C Drive option to restore the Computer back to the factory settings.
Let me inform you how to check the if Recovery partition is available.

Press windows+R key and type diskmgmt.msc and check if you're able to view EISA partition. If EISA partition is there, then the Recovery partition is available and you can access by pressing the F10 key at start-up.
If the EISA partition is not there, then the partition is deleted, then you can purchase the Recovery Discs for your Computer which may cost $15 to $35.

Partition

A recovery partition is mainly a waste of hard drive space. Instead, click Start, All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Backup Status and Configuration. Fallow the instructions.
System Restore is also a hard drive hog. There is a way to limit it to a user specified hard drive allocation...

HP Pavilion dv6000 OS(s)

The product key on the label on the bottom of the laptop will only work for the version of Windows that was installed on that laptop.
You can purchase an upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate and to use in conjunction with the existing Vista Home Premium.

Blue screen after clean install on Satellite L305-S5891 hd prob

wont allow formatting or deleteing of partitions.. check the bios and turn off boot sector protection.

to enter bios look at your screen when you turn the power on, it will say generally on one of the corners of the screen what button to press in order to enter bios to change the settings.

after that is turned off, try reinstalling again.

if the same problem is still there, try to replace the hard drive and see if the problem dissappears, could be a fault yhard drive.

HP laptop XP installation problem

ARUNVK, I used to use a win98se boot disk even on my first SATA drive because I prefer a FAT 32 over a NTFS & reduce my cluster size the 16k.
For the last couple of years Mfg's. have made it easer to use a bootable CD with all the setup utilities and testing software one can need. Suggest you do the same. Go to the drive's Mfg's site & download their disk utility/setup utilitys. Creat a bootable CD. You'll be able to boot into a dos like mode & format to your choosing. If you pick the standard NTFS you'll be stuck with a 4k cluster size but if you use a FAT32 you'll be able to pick your cluster size. Using the CD also helps with IDE drives & SATA's.
Creating more than one partition is just as easy. Also helps with systems the show the blue screen of death. Fix's them as well.

Good Luck & kind regards.
