Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description..."
large amount of water flows back into the wash drum when washer not being used" You likely have a faulty inlet water valve.

Here`s an easy way to check...

1) First drain the standing water which presently exists, if any.

2) Unplug the washer from the wall/power outlet and allow a period of time to pass, 12 hrs or so. If the unit has standing water in it after wards you need a valve.

If it doesn't have water in it after-wards then the valve is being energized when it is plugged in even when it should not...that indicates a faulty control unfortunately, but not very likely.

The valve # is 8182862 and varies in pricing around $40 - $75.

It should be available at most brick and mortar appliance part locations or if you prefer on-line shopping try "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclinic.com" or "appliancepartspros.com" to name a few.

To swap out the valve simply follow these steps...

**Unplug the unit from the wall before attempting any repairs suggested here...safety first**

1) turn off the water and unfasten the hot & cold fill hoses going to the washer.

2) remove the three screws along the back of the top panel and then slide the top panel back slightly and pull up. The panel should lift away.

3) in the left rear corner ( when observing from the front of the washer )you should now see the valve.

4) remove the wires, carefully the harness has little release tabs which must be bent back slightly to pull the wire & harness off.

5) remove the hose to the dispenser assembly, a pair of pliers or vise-grips works well here.

6) remove the screw on the outside back wall of the washer and pull the valve out, voila !

Hope this answers your question but more importantly solves your problem.

My washer gets a 4e message.we have checked the hoses cleaned out meshes.has real good water pressure.it gets the 4e only when it's fixing to wash. if I put it to rinse and spin it will.

Your washer should have a solenoid valve for the cold and hot water. The valves open to allow the water in the drum and will fill the washer according to the load being washed (small, med large, etc.) If the washer does not reach the required level in a measured amount of time, it displays the 4e code. It is possible that one of the solenoids is not completely opening, therefore restricting the flow.

Selenoid valve leaking. Could be a rubber washer or complete valve or very low water pressure.

Water large amounts on floor of shut off machine

To sufficiently inspect your washer to determine where to leak may be coming from, please review the following link:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

If there is a huge gush of water coming from the washer as soon as you begin the fill cycle, this is commonly caused by a small air hose on the side of the washer drum that connects to the pressure switch. If this air hose comes loose, the water will pour from the wash tub as it begins to fill. This is an easy fix, if that is the only problem.

Another cause, can be a water inlet valve that is leaking by, or a pressure switch that does not keep the water supply shut off when not in use. This will cause the tub to fill up and spill over. The following link explains how to check for this as well:

Read through the information provided and let me know if you are having problems determining the cause of your problem. Please post back with your MODEL NUMBER so that I may be able to accurately determine how your washer is configured. I hope you find this information helpful.

Somehow, she added water to raise the amount of water in a bosch front end loader and it overflows when adgitating. how can I manually remove water?

take the drain hose at the back and lower it so its beneath the water level in the drum--the water should flow out--or else open the filter at the front--but thats a bit messy

WHIRLPOOL WASHING MACHINE AWO/D 5716 - CANNOT LOCATE PUMP

Remove the bottom casing covering the front of the machine just above the floor. Unscrew the circular cap SLOWLY- beware of vast amounts of water escaping though!
I had to use a low height roasting pan to catch water, and just unscrew the cap enough so as to control the flow of water, and enable to empty water away until its all gone. Incidentally, an old hairgrip was found to be the cause of my problem.
Confusingly, "clean pump" meant clean filter!

LG TROMM CLOTHES WASHER - "LE" ERROR CODE

I tried a solution I found elsewhere - worked great. I had turned my drum enough to cause the display to turn on (a glitch in their program, I think), then I got the LE code on the next cycle.

Unplug for 10 minutes. Turn back on and press the Rinse & Spin button, then set Spin Speed to No Spin. Run this cycle, which should work fine. Afterwards, you should be able to run your machine as normal. If this doesn't work, replacing the Hall sensor would be the next step.

Water leaking from soap drawer large amount floods kitchen floor intermitent

there is a blockge so the water comes out the way it went in when spinning,
check the filter at the bottom of your drum.
rear of machine, take panel off and look in to see black rubber attached to drum about 3" diameter. filter in there.it's a kind of basket with a ball float in it.
put back the way it came off as only fits 1 way.

Hotpoint Aquarius wd440 washer/dryer wont pump out water HELP!

hold the start button for 5 seconds this should clear previous program. then select drain on your dial. press start as normal and machine will drain. if this does not work the only other remedy is with help, making sure the end of the drain hose is higher than drum at all times take machine outside, lean it back at 45 degrees agaist a wall with a towel or similar covering lid to stop scratching . working from underneath loosen the large jubillee clip that connects the drum to pump drain hose to the drum. As the drum is overfull there is no recepticle large enough to fit under so just let water just flow away. Dry every thing off. make sure you don't loose ping pong ball in filter and make sure filter is clear. refitting is reverse of removal
