I cannot even see any USB storage device I plug into the router. I tried 2 external disks, a flash drive to no avail. When trying to add an USB node, the ASUS folder manager doesn't see any folders. Any clues?

usb storage couls not be recognized . because ntsf file system is not suitable for the router. It is advised to solve this change the file system to fat32 or ext2 . in my opinion asus engineers must think about all file systems...

You need the disk
this has special file on it to run usb i forget which file it is but i believe its in the 386 file on your router
other thing is you cannot use usb with a router you have to use ethernet to connect direct usb is a single setup on modem when you add a router you have to go ethernet i had to do it with mine after 2 days when i first hooked my router i called the company and found out about this thought i would pass the info along

After downloading the disk, my computer is unable to connect to the Belkin router.

To connect your computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is configured in the Wireless settings in the Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase or WPA or WPA2 key that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Dont have a wireless card on one of my desk tops can i get the net with a usb stick

You can install a PCI wireless card in the desktop computer or you can use an USB wireless device. Both of these devices can connect to your wireless router, but they need to be configured with the router's wireless settings.
If you do not have a wireless router, then you can get an USB wireless modem device that connects to the Internet that uses the 3G mobile network. The advantage of this, you can connect to the Internet anywhere you get mobile coverage with that Internet Service provider.

WD & Seagate ext HDD not getting connected toBelkins N+ router

hmmm..

Start > Run > devmgmt.msc

Check if there are some errors shown under USB devices..

Also try changing the USB ports...

Use the ports in back of ur CPU.

Also check

Start > run > diskmgmt.msc to see if your device / Hard disk is listed there.

Assign a drive letter to the drive if no letter like e:, f: etc is assigned to it.

WD My Book 1TB not recognised by belkin modem router USB storage

If I understand correctly ... You have not connected the drive to a computer.

If I am not mistaken the WD My Book has preinstalled backup software installed on it. It very well might also have a power down built as part of that programming. Try attaching it to a computer to verify this.

Assuming the backup software needs blank drive to work correctly I would first access the drive select all and delete anything you find (if you know how to unhide hidden files do that before you select and delete all) ... As a 2nd option I would just reformat the drive.

Hope that helps....

WD My Book 1TB not recognised by belkin modem router USB storage

I have a work around for this.

In the detail of the Belkin manuals it says you can attach up to 4 USB storage devices via a USB HUB.

I had an old Hub so I Connected the HUB to the router and the Maxtor to the HUB --- It worked :-) It came up in a few seconds.

At first I powered the HUB but later took the power out of the hub and it still worked ;-} However when I used a different HUB it would not work without power to the HUB.

The HUB I use is an old Belkin 4 port Tetra Hub. The newer 7 port Belkin HUB (5 Rear 2 Top) only worked with the HUB powered.

Hope this helps untill Belkin Upgrade the Router sofrtare.

This is not as complicated as it may sound. You don't need the manager. Bring up the "run" window (XP - Start - Run / Vista Alt-R). Enter the following address [\\192.168.2.1] press enter. The drive will show up. Right click on it and select Map Network Drive. You can then uninstall the useless program from Belkin.

Trying to connect a Mybook 1Tb network drive to N1 Vision

Hi! I have an N1 Vision with similar problems. I have done some research and found that we are not alone with this issue! Two solutions are possible: 1) If yours is version 1 (1000) of the machine, Belkin recommends that it be swapped out for version 2, which apparently has firmware/hardware changes that fix this (unverified; it would seem to me that this would require a whole new DHCP approach) and 2) I've found that if you go through the process of unplugging the device for 2 minutes, replugging it and then refreshing the DHCP table, after between 1 and 5 iterations, the device should appear. I'd also advise you to shut down (for troubleshooting) the software firewall in the router (you'll still have the NAT firewall), that might eliminate a problem/conflict somewhere in your network!

Good luck and let me know if this helps!

USB dard drive extermly slow

common problem with larger size drives, windows is trying to populate the entire contents of the drive at once. try to keep single files out of the root drive (aka put your files in folders) that way when you access the drive it will just populate a bunch of folders instead of a million individual files
