The fault code means the electronic control detected the thermistor is open. It's either the wire harness connecting the thermistor and electronic control is broken or the connection is loose or the thermistor is indeed open. Measure the resistance of the thermistor then refer to the temperature and resistance table below for the normal thermistor resistance values. Replace the thermistor if the measured resistance is not within range of the table.

Check the continuity of the wire harness if the thermistor resistance is good and make sure the connectors are fully inserted. Replace the harness if it is broken (no continuity). The problem lies in the electronic control board if no issue is found in the harness and the connections.

The thermistor is located on the blower housing and can be accessed through the toe panel. Shut off the gas supply if your dryer is gas type and disconnect electrical power to the dryer. Remove the two hex-head screws from the bottom flange of the toe panel then pull the panel down and off the cabinet.

Remove the wires from the terminals of the thermistor when measuring its resistance. Remove the two hex-head screws securing it to the blower housing when replacing it and install the new one. Reassemble the dryer in revestarts drying then stops showing - 08ff317.jpg of the disassembly steps.

Hello,

The E1 error code means that the electronic thermostat is the problem. With what your describing as far as it being very hot and the E1 code,i would suspect one of 2 things;

1) the thermister is bad and needs to be replaced

2) thier is a blocked/restricted vent and or excessive lint built up in the blower housing causing the heat to be retained in the dryer instead of being vented out and across the thermister where its getting a false reading and throwing up the E1 error code

HE3 dryer stops drying with code E1

Hi, how are ya?

The E1 is a thermistor problem. It's a little black fuse that's next to the thermal fuse on the duct housing.

It's pretty easy to fix. You need to take the bottom pannel off and then the black blower housing.

Good luck :)

My dryer starts runs for a few minutes then stops with an E1 on

clear the exhaust tube of lint and make sure you have good air flow out of house and also if you happen to keep anything on top of your dryer please i say this to all NEVER keep anything on top ot it. Clothes or stacked items on top insulates your cabinet and makes dryer run improperly. Nowadays with sensors and all, it fools your machine when you have stuff on top of it. Good Luck

Most customer manuels have a code listing in the back? Have you checked to see what E1 is? It sounds like its not sensing properly. the sensor works off the vent...so the most common problem is the vent or venting. Please check and advise
