Colors are wrong. Cartridges say I have plenty of toner in each of the 4 ...but when i print the colors are not right. I did a color test and the yellow is barely visible. How accurate are the sensors that...

Each cartridge has a "memory tag" that keeps track of the cartridge use. It is highly unlikely that all 4 memory tags are bad. Are you using HP cartridges?
Have you calibrated the printer? Do a full calibration.
It is possible that the DC Controller is bad. Each of the "memory tags" reads and writes to the DC Controller. The DC Controller also determines which colors get printed. Have you changed the ITB (Intermediate Transfer Belt)?

Calibrating Doc 12 without a platen

I am to take it that the Platen cover is missing? If this is the case what you need is Ledger (11x17) or just bigger, bright white paper. Make sure that you use about 6-8 sheets (stacked) on to of each other. Place your color calibration test page on the glass and then lay the sheets over the calibration sheet. This should work as well as the platen white back.
