3E means no tach sensor signal from motor.

Try first tripping the circuit breaker or disconnecting the power cord to reset the code. If that does not help, then the repair is carried accessing motor and checking motor , hall sensor and wiring.

Here a service bulletin illustrating the repair procedure.

If for some reason you need to test the motor, you will need to read Ohms at motor contacts. There are two set of contacts. Ohms between three of them in one group should be all around 11 Ohms(pink purple white), while the other group must return 2.9 Ohms(red blue white).

Also ensure that the drum is not stuck.

What's your problem? I am getting a 3E code during wash and the machine stops

3E == overcurrent detected at the motor.

Open the control panel, there should be a tech sheet in there that explains how to put the machine into service mode (press chime and extra rinse keys for three seconds) and what to do while in service mode to track this down. Once on service mode, you can cycle through and retrieve all diagnostic codes... and lots of other stuff that'll help you track this down.

You can also go ahead and check out the windings on the motor. Unplug harness connector and test from wire insertion side.

What is the error code dS for Neptune Maytag Washer MAH8700AWW?

Please advise me on any recalls and technical information involving error code 3E during a wash load, which appears related to be a faulty control panel. My machine is always shutting down each time it reaches the rinse cycle. Numerous consumers have been complaining about this same model at consumeraffairs.com. Replacement of the control panel is expensive at an average cost of 298 dollars and appears to be the corrective action for other consumers with error code 3E. Over current is not being detected at the motor. I'm disappointed with the quality of this washer considering I purchased it in 2005 for over 1,000 dollars. This problem has forced me to use a local laundry mat to wash my clothes. This error code is not listed in the User manual.

Error code OE does not finish whole cycle

Just resolved same problem...it is the pressure switch aka water level sensor.  OE is overflow error.  Pressure switch is located under top cover on front right hand side.  It is round and has a rubber tube leading down to the drum and a electrical connection to the board.  Paid maytag man to diagnose/install cost me about $150
