Here is your solution.
First right click on My Computer.
And follow the following steps.
Properties-->Advanced --> in start up and recovery part settings -->Click on edit button .
Now remove the one line that is twice, described as below:
"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Remember to back up before making any changes to this file.

Computer freezes when trying to access My Computer in any program

Could be a program running in background. Try to go to msconfig ( click on start, run, and type msconfig). On the startup items, disable all and reboot. See if the performance improves. If it does, enable startup program on msconfig one by one and reboot. to check what startup item is causing the slow performance. If it does not improve, might be an unnecessary driver for the system. Reinstall windows xp.

System is running extremely slow, when I tried to do a factory restore I get an error code 0xf00000005. I ran hardware diagnostics on the hard drive memory cpu and mobo, tests run extremely slow. I tried...

After using Darik's boot and nuke (DBAN) your hard drive will be wiped clean with little chance of recovery. This also depends on how many passes you used for the disk wipe. More passes = less chance of recovery.

Restore from backup
You can restore backups previously created (as stated in the Create backup
section) from hard disk, CD or DVD.
1 Boot to Windows XP.
2 Press <Alt> + <F10> to open the Acer eRecovery Management utility.
3 Enter the password to proceed. The default password is six zeros.
4 In the Acer eRecovery Management window, select Recovery actions and
click Next.
5 Select the desired restore action and follow the onscreen instructions to
complete the restore process.

New Aspire with windows 7 is very slow

It may have a virus or just a bad windows install.
Try using your restore disk or option to bring back to factory.

My computer was frozen so I did a hard reboot and held the power button dow for 5 seconds when it came back on it gave me 2 options "start windows normal" or do a "repair start" recommended. Repair start...

next time please choose Start windows normal, because hp laptops starts to analyze every cylinder of your hard drive and that takes ages...please open setup/Bios at startup and reset the options to default and if you still have the problem try booting with a windows CD and use the repair option (attention: not the recovery console)

I have my brothers dell L400 laptop no cd drive. He had a worm and tried to remove it. unfortunately his computer is now saying the copy of windows is not activated. he has no cd or floppy to fix this...

If it can boot up from memory stick you can do that. Check it from BIOS if starting computer then on booting screen press "Delete" button.

Then load all data from Windows CD to Memory stick and try boot on that.

Laptop Mousepad and Keyboard stuttering, slow

Whenever that happens to me, at least to the mouse pad I restart my laptop and it fixes it...
If not then perhaps it's a hardware or software problem, maybe you could reinstall XP over again, or you could, as a last resort crack it open and see what's goin' on inside or have someone check it out for you (I wouldn't go that far though).
