Question about Hilti Drills

1 Answer

Hilti TE 10 stopping and starting, suspect bushes need changing. How do I get to bushes? Removed x3 front screws and switch grub screw but drill will not pull apart. Don't want to force it incase something breaks.

To get to the brushes all you need to do is remove the 3 screws on the back handle of the tool. No need to seperate the motor from the gear housing. Pull the back cover off and you have access to the brushes

Hilti te 22 no power

Most common for the TE22 was the switch and or cord. To get to handle off take a 5mm allen wrench and take the two screws off the bottem of the handle and then stick the wrench in through the hole in the top of the handle and remove the screw on the inside. Then take the two phillip screws off the side of the handle to seperate the two halves. You will need to take a continuity tester and read each cord from the plug to the switch. If that reads out continue to read the contacts on the switch. The cord you can replace but if the switch is bad there is not a replacment for it.

Hope this helps.

Need rear moter bushing for TE-17

Hilti has not carried parts for the TE17 for about 15 years. That tool was produced from the 60's up until the early 80's. The part you are looking for is an Oilite bushing that is held in the motor end cap. Even though the part is no longer available a good machine shop should be able to make you one.

Hilti te92 starts up then stops after a little use

It could be the contacts on the switch are burning out. The 92 also had an electronic speed regulator that could be going out.

After you run the drill and it stops. Unplug the drill, take the handle off and apart. Feel the screws on the switch were the wires are connected. If one of them is hot to the touch that usually means the contacts are burning up.

Hilti te-72 hammer failure

Do not put it in hammer mode and try to unscrew the chuck! This will break the housing internally. To remove the chuck you will have to put a chisel in the chuck. Lock that chisel in a big vice. You will then have to put a pipe wrench on the chuck to unscrew it. It is regular threads but there will be loctite on it. Once that is off your will have a spring and two roller bearings to remove before you can slide the bell off. You will then have 8 5MM screws to remove. This will remove the chuck. You will then have a snap ring to remove. After that you can remove the whole cylinder assy. More then likely your connecting rod is broken.

My hilti te 6-s stopped working trigger looks to be ok. wondering how to test trigger and motor to be sure niether is the issue. thnx

I would first check the cord to the switch and then the 2 wires coming from the motor to the switch to see if they have continuity. UNPLUG tool first. to be on the safe side remove the bottom cover 2 T15 Torx screws and look at the brushes also and while apart if you have compressed air blow thru all the openings. The switch is hard to check so I would check everything around it first and if OK I would say a bad switch.
