Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

After the last wash I noticed the bottom of my dishwasher (Whirlpool quiet partner 2) was filled with water. After unloading the dishes I closed the dishwasher and pushed the Cancel/Drain button but the button didn't work. None of the buttons work. It's as if the dishwasher became unplugged. I looked at the nearest outlet beneath the sink, but did not find anything unplugged. I wasn't able to drag the dishwasher out of its area beneath the counter by myself and figured I better ask first before I do anything. If the water didn't drain after the wash and the buttons do not work (the green light showing the dishes were clean was not on after the last wash) does this mean the washer is broken indefinetly? I do not have the money to get a new washer and getting a repair man to come and fix it would also be straining my wallet too much. What should I do?

1.Check the drain filter for clogging.
2. Check the drain hose. Remove carefully to avoid water spill.
3. Check whether flows freely from the hose.
4. Check the drain valve if possible for you.

i'm having the same problem. hoses are clear. how do i check the drain valve?

I hope the washer is getting power and the indicator is ON. Check whether your door is closing fully and the door close switch is OK. Try draining the water externally, by manualy scooping out with a small cup.

Try a new cycle. If the pressure switch is OK it will start the water inflow once again. See whether it is finishing the entire cycle. If you can open the back door you can see all the inlet, outlet valves. You can identify them by the water hoses connected to them. Give gentle tap on all these valves wooden hammer or any other suitable tool with you. If there is a mechanical bonding it will get released.

You need to check the drain system completely, look for plugged screens, pump impellers, valves and the drain hose. You need to witness a large volume of water flow during drain.

We have the Whirlpool Gold quiet partner III dishwasher and lately have noticed residue on the dishes after the cleaning cycle is complete. Where is the trap to clean?

Make sure your water is hot, at least 120deg f. Also, use least amount of soap you can get away with. Usually around 2 tablespoons for soft water. Use powdered soap not gel. Gel leaves a tiny residue each load and will clog up plumbing in dw after 4,5,or 6 years. Rinse agent such as Jet Dry is highly recommended.

Try the "Tang" trick. Orange Tang drink mix is mildly acidic. With an empty dishwasher, start and fill, then normal drain. On second fill, add a full jar of Tang then let the dishwasher run for a few minutes. Crack the door to stop the dishwasher and let it sit for several hours or overnight. Then close the door, push start and let the dw run through the remaining cycle. This will sometimes clean out the crud in the water lines.

Hope this helps! Ken

Hello,
Welcome to fixya,

You said, you have a whirlpool quiet partner dishwasher that is not getting even light food residue off the dishes. Cycles seem to be running and progressing normally, tho you do not think the water is spraying from the arms with adequate force.

I have the same machine.
And I notice if I leave the dishes in the sink rather than rinsing them off and putting them directly into the dishwasher, (Like My Wife says to do). That sometimes I have the same problem.
So I bought Jet Dry, and filled the holder. It's a small sometimes clear plastic knob that unscrews out above the soap dish.Fill it once a month!
Do you put the detergent in both cups or only the closed one?
1. If the load is not real dirty you should only have to fill the one with the door that closes.
If it is real dirty then both. To always use both is a waste of money!
2. If your hot water heater is far from your dishwasher, let the hot water tap run a minute till it comes out hot, before starting the dishwasher.
3.If the dishes or pans are very dirty and or baked on use hi temp scower and heavy or potscruber for those loads.

I use heavy wash and hot temp scower if the stuff is relly messy or dryed on.
And for baked on HI- temp scower and pot scruber which sprays harder.

You will have to experiment a little to see what works for you.
You will find it washeing good after you find what works for your families dish habits!
