Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Had a Sharp (LC-26SB24U) TV with a no video, white screen but good audio. The Budm fix was to replace Q413. Bingo! That was my problem...a multimeter confirmed C was shorted to B so I replaced the transistor with NTE153 (as suggested) and that fixed was great! All worked fine... However, after just 1 week, the TV video went out again, just like before...the White ScreenOf Death! So I removed Q413 again but it tests ok. I resoldered it back in and the TV still has a white screen with no video as before. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sharp Lc-26sb24u white screen with sound

You will get a white screen when you unplug the t-con from the main board. Doing so removes power to the LCD panel. Verify that all of your voltages from the power supply are correct. If they are, I'd look at the t-con board. It sounds like there is a problem with the t-con that is pulling down the main board.

My sharp LC-26DV24U is displaying a white screen only.

I have the same model Sharp TV with the same symptoms. The TV would sometimes work perfectly, then go to white screen (audio OK) and sometimes back to working perfectly again.

I saw Posts saying to check F404 and Q413 - My fuse F404 was not blown, and replacing the Q413 transistor did not fix it.

On Q413 I had about 12.4 VDC on the Emitter, 12.3 VDC on the Base and about 1.5 VDC on the Collector. My service manual called for 11.6 VDC on the Base lead. As a Test, I used a 150 Ohm resistor from Q413 Base to metal chassis ground, and that made the TV work OK.

I replaced the Q419 NPN silicon driver transistor, and now the TV has been restored to 100% proper operation.

I hope that helps someone else down the line.

White screen when I turn it on and only had it for 2 years. It's a Sharp lcd tv model# LC-26SB24U. Please tell me that its a defective part, like the tv tuner signal board.

The problem is that the t-con board is not receiving signal to the logic board or there is no supply coming to the t-con board. T-CON board gets the signal to logic board to produce image in to the screen if T-CON board fails white screen is produce. Try to check if there is a bulge up in the top of the capacitor. Note before opening the back cover of your tv be sure to unplug the unit feel free to send feed back good day and best regards.

My tv screen keeps going white. It's only about three years old.

It may have failing switched 5vdc transistor that feeds the 5v to the LCD T-CON board.
Here is the service manual:

It has similar to this one as shown here:

LC-26DV24U white screen only

The grey screen is caused by failed transistor for the switched 12vdc for the T-CON board, same as my pictures here (my does not have the DVD), but it can also be the main 12vdc itself that is bad, you will have to do some probing. Since the screen is grey, you will not be able to tell if the set really function or not.

Here is the free service manual that you will need:
