Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
Please check the cover switch, you can find that by looking/running around the scanners edges, it would be a toggle like switch, that is actuated or press by a notch by the scanner cover itself.
The notch or the switch trigger should reach in the hole where the switch is located, if it doesnt, the error would be like this, it will say the cover is open yet you have closed it.
If you have located the switch hole, try operating the scanner with you pressing the switch, with the use of a hairpin or paper clip, just dont press on it too hard, very light press would suffice. if it operates with that procedure, and clears the blinking, the notch or actuator on the cover may not have been reaching the switch.
you can do the trick by gluing a piece of pin or clip just long enough to reach the switch on the hole.
If you are techy enough, you can try to copy the shape of the notch and try attaching it.
If you want to, you can also open up the scanner, and try replacing the switch with a taller button.
hope that clears your problem.

Tips for a great answer:
have your lights come on automatically when you walk into an open
garage, you must START with the lights ON. If you don't want that
feature and you want to turn it off, you must START with the lights
turn the feature on, turn the lights on manually with the wall
switch, then press and hold the LIGHT button for about 10 seconds
until the motor unit light bulbs flash. Now, if the light bulbs are
on, manually turn them out and then walk out through the open door.
The light bulbs should come on.
disable this feature, start with the light bulbs OFF and everything
else is the same.
