I can't belive it....I just noticed this exact same problem with my Whirlpool Model ED5RHEXNL a few days ago. I'm worried that this could be a fire hazard of some sort. But you seem to suggest this is just normal, I just can't figure out why I hadn't noticed it before now as the fridge is about 2 1/2 yrs. old.

This is normal this is the mulliion heater , it is a loop of tubing from the high side of the condenser it is used to keep moisture from forming between the doors of the ref, cool it will not be
but is cool how the manufacture thought about doing this

Seal needs to be replaced around door. Make sure magnetic strip is tight against sides of refrigerator, even if you have to cut the outside so it lays flat against the sides.

Old whirlpool freezer door left slightly ajar.light on inside.door won't seal. Rubber on door warm.what can I do?

if you replace the door seal and it still doesn't work then that is a dilemma you have to face. If you get a technician out to check it out and all you need is a door seal--same problem
Is the compressor motor still running then there is a good chance that a door seal will fix it

Freezer too warm, and i feel heat on the door seals

The door seals warm is from the mullion heater that minimizes moisture from forming in that area, under working conditions. You need to provide more information.... What did you see that made you defrost it 3 weeks ago..

Water dispence slow

do you know if it is a whirlpool made model, 27ft french door, ice maker in ceiling, they had issues with a seal between ice compartment and ref side- leaks freezing air to water tank area, freezing tank. other wise if its not the filter -then water flow to unit. ck where it connects to ref, if good( should have steady stream with press. replace ref valve if bad look at your valve in wall or at sink.

Whirlpool sideby side ref. ED5FHGXKQ02 condensation on walls of freezer causes accumulation of water on freezer floor

Most times that is a defrost drain blockage behind the rear wall of your freezer back panel. Sometimes the door seals allow some moisture to accumulate if air is drawn in through the seals leaking or the door to the dispenser is stuck open. But when you say it has accumulated in a pool of ice on the bottom of the freezer then the drain is blocked. I'm going to send you to some links and I want you to read through most of what is said and just use the parts the refer to your refrigerators problem, Sea Breeze

Sideby side whirlpool- 3 years old- ice maker stopped working 3 weeks ago. today everything in freezer is melting

Verify condenser fan is running. Check evaporator coils for frost. IM will quit if freezer does not go below 5 degrees. The cooling was slowly dieing and finally warmed enough to defrost the food.

Freezer quit freezing

HI,

you can try this suggestion first.

if the compressor is running your ref. should be getting cold. Their is a defrost timer but when it is in defrost the compressor shuts off. I think you do have a leak.

any further question let me know.

thanks,

Warm to Hot molding that seals the doors

The heat in door frame is normal but undetectable when ref at normal temp. Definitely cooling problem. Google ref not cold enough to get help to solve problem. Never use any oil for it will not help also health problem if not approved to be used around food. Fan motor must be replaced for it will just keep stopping.
