Question about GE GSL25JFXLB (250 cu ft) Side by Side Refrigerator

Open Question

The Ice Maker on my GESL25JFXLB is frozen over at the opening to the shoot. The water dispenser works fine, except that when you push the paddle back to get water, you have to pull it back towards you manually to shut it off. The ice maker makes ice just fine. The ice just cant get through the shoot because of the block of ice that builds there (typically within 3 days). It gets so iced up its hard to pull open at times. I break it apart and it just keeps coming back. What can I do?

SOURCE: Ice Dispenser

Thanks for the reply.

I bit th ebullet and called out the GE repair man. Luckily though, there was a problem with the printed Circuit Board, which was actually a recall, so th eboard was replaced for free and my fridge now works.

Cheers

SOURCE: ice maker not dispensing ice

If the dispensor light switches to cubed or crushed , the panel is good . Remove the ice bin , and hold the light switch in . Press the arm for CRUSHED ice , and if you hear a buzzing or hum , then the auger motor is frozen . Use a hair dryer directly on the " forks " for a while , ocasionally holding switch and activating arm , until the forks move . Lower the freezer temp slightly and reinstall the ice bin .

SOURCE: frost building up in ice maker exit shoot and

Look into the dispensor , and see if the door flap is closing , or letting warm air in which will cause the frost buildup . If not closing completely , remove the top cover on the freezer door hinge , and unplug the plug . This will remove power to the door . Use a small screwdriver , and insert under the freezer door dispensor control board , and pry outward . Remove the 3 plugs on the board . Next , remove the 4 screws holding the white dispensor cover , and slide outward . At the top right , you will see a solenoid and plunger , which control the door flap . Usually , this plunger rusts on the solenoid . Replace both , the solenoid and plunger ( come together in kit ) Pt # WR62X10055 . Re-assemble in reverse .

SOURCE: GE TFX22ZR side by side. ice maker not making ice

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

Everything normal on my GE Profile Model PFSF6PKWBBB French door bottom freezer refridgerator except the water dispenser just quit dispensing water. Is it frozen? How do I fix it?

The paddle that you push the glass against to dispense water activates a microswitch. Sometimes this switch can break off it's mount and drop away from it's intended position. The microswitch operates a solenoid valve near where the water line enters the back of the fridge. Then there's the wiring in between them. The water line doesn't go through the freezer. It runs through the refrigerator in a coil of tubing then into the door of the dispenser. Check the paddle switch, the water solenoid and the wiring and you'll find the reason it doesn't work

Kitchen aid ksr125fnbl does not make ice

1st question: When you select "water", does it work? If not, then you must check to see that the solenoid that controls the water valve to the refrigerator is operating. Generally, you can here it "click" when you push your cup into the dispenser for water.

2nd question: If you remove the tray that holds the ice cubes you should be able to see a plastic paddle that is used to sense the height of the ice in the tray. It is possible that this paddle is frozen in the "stop" position which causes the refrigerator to think that they ice tray is full.

Finally, you may need to replace the ice-maker. It also has a solenoid control that opens and closes the water valve that fills the ice making trays. Although these don't usually fail, and the most common problem is frozen components, it is know to happen.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Water dispenser doesn't work on ge hotpoint freezer

Here recently I have run into 2 of these units that do this and have found that the dispenser line is frozen in the freezer door. The way to test this is to remove the kick plate under the doors (It is easiest to open both doors to do this) Disconnect the union in the water line leading to the door by pushing in on the waterline and pulling in on the end of the fitting. When the line is apart, close the doors and push in on the paddle as to fill a cup with water. If you get water out of the line under the door then your line in your door is frozen and you will either need to replace your door or let the unit thaw for 24 hours with the doors open. Cheaper to thaw. If no water comes out under the door when paddle is pressed then you will need to replace the water valve as long as you have 120 volts at the valve when actuated.

I have had some of these same units making noises like this. One I found was leaking water down from the water inlet tube and in behind the ice maker and behind another panel that shoots up to the ice maker and building up behind that panel and causing a whistling sound. Removing the ice build up solved this one problem but couldn't find solution for the problem for the other. Dismissed it to change in the weather and expanding and contracting of the liner of the unit. Hope this helps.

Ice maker dispenses ice without anyone pushing button.

Possible fault with the electrical connector at the bottom of the door as these can corrode or the microswitch behind the paddle has got jammed , try pulling the paddle forward a little . You should hear the switch click when you push the paddle back .

Icemaker just stopped making ice

As these ice makers cycle there is an arm that moves up while the ice is being freed from the ice maker. After the ice is dumped into the dispenser bin the arm continues a downward motion. If it encounters ice in the downward travel it shuts the ice maker off. If this arm is locked in the full up position the ice maker is manually shut off. Check this arm and make sure it is not locked in the up position.

Ice Dispenser

If you access the ice container and remove any partially melted ice - maybe the ice maker will work. We had a similar problem. We opened the ice reservoir and discovered ice cubes that had partially melted together. Once we removed those, the ice maker and water dispenser returned to normal. Now we check every so often.

Sounds like the water solinoid valves are wired wrong. One activates The water dispenser. The other the ice maker. That, why every so often the water shoots out on the floor. The ice maker is telling the valve to open.
