Question about ADVANTAGE Waterway SVL56 Pool Pump SVL56E115 Impeller 15 Hp 3103660
Could be an obstruction in the impeller, or the bearings going out. You can split the pump in two be removing the large clamp or 4-6 bolts holding the two halves together. (not the 4 bolts holding the motor to seal plate, but the the bolts holding the seal plate to the seal plate housing. once you remove the clamp or bolts, the motor with seal plate and impeller and diffuser can all be pulled back away from the pump. You need to remove the diffuser (plastic housing that goes around the impeller) usually by a series of 3 to 6 small screws. Now you can easily try and spin the impeller and check for obstructions that might have bound it. If you do not see anything stuck in the impeller, then the noise is likely coming from the motor (probably the bearings) you can replace the motor, or have it rebuilt. if your not gunna rebuild it you can deal with it as long as the noise doesn't bother you and the motor is not getting too hot
